Pokémon Masters EX: Best Sabrina Sync Grid Builds

Sabrina & Alakazam are a sync pair you want to reach sync level 2 with as their grid makes them a much more effective support pair. They are one of the few sync pairs able to improve an ally’s accuracy. Plus, add in their ability to improve allies critical-hit rate and Sp. Atk, plus a little bit of healing, and they will be loved by any Special Striker.

The best sync grid build for Sabrina & Alakazam would be to go for Dire Hit Critical Squad and Sixth Sense! MP Refresh.

Sync Grid Builds

Zen Support (3/5) is their standard build focused on their non-attacking moves to best help allies with two variations depending on if you’re using the pair for co-op/Battle Villa or singleplayer content. Deflect Reflect (3/5) focuses more on using Reflect multiple times, cheaply and speedily. Both builds have a sync level 2 variation that are not pale imitations of their fully unlocked versions.

Five Sharpened Spoons (3/5) utilizes Mega Alakazam’s Psychic attack at the expense of regaining uses of Reflect to quickly count down until using his sync move again.

Universal Upgrades

  • HP +20
  • Defense +5
  • Sp. Atk +25
  • Sp. Def +5
  • Speed +5
  • Dire Hit Critical Squad 1
  • Sixth Sense! MP Refresh 3

Universal Lucky Skill Recommendation:
Vigilance, Stoic 2, Fast Track 2

Dire Hit Critical Squad 1 is picked up for all builds because the move will raise the entire team’s critical-hit rate by +2 with each move. Sixth Sense! MP Refresh 3 will help Sabrina assist her allies further by potentially restoring a use which could be used to heal an ally in a pinch or allow all three sync pairs to have improved Sp. Atk and accuracy.

Vigilance is the best lucky skill to have on Alakazam because of his weak Defense and critical hits bypassing both Reflect and any Defense boosts used on him. However, both Stoic 2 and Fast Track 2 can also benefit Alakazam. Stoic 2 has a chance to raise his Defense and Fast Track 2 has a chance to raise his Speed.

Sabrina & Alakazam are a good sync pair even without their grid, but they gain a lot by investing Orbs into their grid tiles. This is a great standard build to use in a Support role where their non-attacking moves are more important than their damage output.

There are minor differences between if you are using them in a Co-op or Battle Villa stage or in a singleplayer match based on if you need to cover more than three Pokémon with Dire Hit All.

Both builds pick up +14 Psybeam power as well as both Psybeam Move Gauge Refresh 2 tiles for when Alakazam has completed his setup for the team. Reflect MP Refresh 4 will potentially restore one MP each time the move is used, allowing another use.

In co-op, other players may switch in different sync pairs that might need critical-hit support. In Battle Villa, Sabrina & Alakazam will need to set up for each battle they take part in. This is why Dire Hit All MP Refresh 3 is picked up even though Critical Squad 1 will guarantee max their critical-hit rate if it is used twice.

For singleplayer content, there is no need for more than two uses of Dire Hit All, so instead Reflect gains Pep Rally 2 which will raise the Speed of all allies two stages with each use.

At sync level 2, both grids are still viable and need only minor tweaking.

Deflect Reflect Build (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:

  • Defense +5
  • Speed +10
  • Psybeam Power +18
  • Psybeam Move Gauge Refresh 2
  • Reflect MP Refresh 4
  • Reflect Move Gauge Refresh 3
  • Reflect Pep Rally 2

2/5 Variation:
– Reflect Pep Rally 2
– Psybeam Power +10
– Psybeam Move Gauge Refresh 2
+ Defense +5
+ Psybeam Move Gauge Refresh 2
+ Psybeam Power +9
+ Reflect Move Gauge Refresh 3

Reflect is a great method to further reduce physical damage beyond any Defense boosts another ally might bring to the team. In a long, drawn out battle, being able to have Reflect continuously up can go a long way towards beating the Legendary Arena.

Psybeam gains +18 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 2 to help chip damage and count down until the sync move. Reflect uses both bars on the move gauge and MP, so Reflect MP Refresh 4 will restore a use of the move 50% of the time and Reflect Move Gauge Refresh 3 will help cut down on the expensive 3-bar costs. Reflect Pep Rally 2 will sharply raise the speed of all allies by +2 whenever the move is used.

At sync level 2, the build loses out on Pep Rally 2 and the Psybeam refresh at the very top of the grid, and has to change out tiles to reach the other. Picking up the second Reflect Move Gauge Refresh 3 will help the move cut costs further.

Five Sharpened Spoons Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:

  • HP +10
  • Defense +5
  • Psychic +20
  • Psychic Move Gauge Refresh 4
  • ESP Prodigy Psywave Power +25
  • Critical Countdown 1

2/5 Variation:
Not recommended

Lucky Skill recommendation:
Critical Strike 2

Mega Alakazam changes out Psybeam for the more powerful Psychic and his Sp. Atk and Speed become stronger. In more of a Striker role, his buffs all greatly benefit him.

Alakazam can only use Psychic after using his sync move, so using Dire Hit All and Sixth Sense! at the beginning of the fight will set him up for when he becomes Mega. Psychic gains +20 power as well as Move Gauge Refresh 4 to make the move have an average cost of 2.5 bars.

ESP Prodigy Psywave gains +25 power, but the big boost is the skill Critical Countdown 1. With Dire Hit All Critical Squad 1, Alakazam can max his critical-hit rate with two uses, meaning every attack will be a critical hit. Critical Countdown 1 has a small chance of reducing the sync move countdown by one every time Alakazam has a critical-hit. Outpacing the opponent in sync moves is key to gaining a great advantage over them.

Pick up lucky skill Critical Strike 2 for more damage with each critical hit. You can use the universal lucky skills if you primarily use Alakazam as support, but you are much better served with Critical Strike 2 with this build.
