Kanna Best Skill Build and Guide MapleStory

Kanna is one of the best classes in the game. It has great support skills, great mobbing, and great bossing. You’ll be really sought after in all stages of the game and if you play well you’ll also do big damage by yourself.

One downside to Kanna is that you have a lot of skills that you can use. Below you’ll find out the notable skills and what situations they are good in. Make sure to find a place on your keyboard for them.

Kanna can reach max attack speed by herself only while domain is active. You’ll be missing 1 stage of AS which can be made up in the inner ability but it is pretty minimal if you’re Tengu weaving. Feels better for solo bossing but sometimes useless for party bossing if a party member can provide that extra Attack Speed.

Cooldown Skip, if it procs, will give you the highest damage which is ideal in culvert but if you don’t want to think too much or rely on RNG, Boss Damage is the more reliable option. The main skill you’ll be checking for skips is Vanquisher’s Charm while bursting.

Skill Tengu Strike.png Tengu Strike is an important skill when it comes to animation canceling. If you cast it while other skills are going you’ll be able to output more damage and also have a smoother gameplay experience. It is important to learn Tengu Weaving if Kanna is going to be your main. Also you want to stay close to bosses/enemies while casting Tengu so that you get the full damage.

Skill Kishin Shoukan.png Kishin Shoukan is a summon skill that is really good while mobbing and used with Ghost Yaksha to cover a lot of the map. Also decent for bosses that stand in one place and don’t move much. Duration will increase once you learn the Nightghost Guide skill.

Kanna 4th Job Skill Explanation

Kanna has a lot of notable 4th job skills. They are Bellflower Barrier, Shikigami Doppelganger, Nine-Tailed Fury, Nightghost Guide, Orochi Unbound, Vanquisher’s Charm, Falling Sakura, and Binding Tempest.

Skill Bellflower Barrier.png Bellflower Barrier is another one of Kanna’s barriers. This one will be very important while bossing since it grants Damage and Boss Damage to everyone inside of it. It is ideal to summon this on a mana vein so that it is larger and will be more useful to you and your party.

Skill Shikigami Doppelganger.png Shikigami Doppelganger is a toggle skill that will passively help you mob/deal damage. Make sure to always have it toggled on.

Skill Nine-Tailed Fury.png Nine-Tailed Fury is a full map attack but also grants a big damage buff after its use. It is not a 100% up time damage buff so make sure to time it well so that the buff will be active during your big bursts. Use of Tengu is common to animation cancel this skill.

Skill Nightghost Guide.png Nightghost Guide is very important when it comes to mobbing since it will increase your Kishin duration. As you attack there will be a chance for this skill to proc and grant you additional EXP and extend Kishin. This skill makes it so that you can’t fully afk and you still need to do some Shikigami Haunting attacks.

Skill Orochi Unbound.png Orochi Unbound is good for mobbing and ok for bossing. It can be used to air stall for a long time if you hold the key down. The problem is it has a long duration and you might not want to be in the air for that long.

Skill Vanquisher's Charm.png Vanquisher’s Charm is Kanna’s big burst attack. It is a key down skill that drains your mana and ends when you run out of mana or the duration is up. To get the most out of the skill you’ll want to either be on a Mana Vein/Large Barrier or have full mana with Yuki-musume active.

Skill Falling Sakura.png Falling Sakura is for HP recovery in bossing. Party members must be nearby to get the benefit.

Skill Binding Tempest.png Binding Tempest is a bind skill. You will get another bind skill that lasts longer called Veritable Pandemonium which should be your main binding skill for big bursts. This bind can be used for bosses with different phases or in case you miss your main bind skill.

  • Bellflower Barrier – Cooldown Cutter

Circle of Suppression is like a toggle that forms a barrier around you and will damage enemies around you on its own.

Veritable Pandemonium is your main bind skill. It lasts 15 seconds at base and is what your teammates will be relying on during big bursts.

Princess’s Vow is an active damage buff mainly used for bursting.

Kanna 5th Job Skills

Active I-Frame and Damage Skill
(only invincible during cast and the last part when it pops)

Spirit’s Domain is one of Kanna’s most important skills. It is important to know how it works and when to use it. The most important thing about Spirits Domain is that it needs to be fully charged in order to get the maximum buffs.

In order to fully charge you need to consume 240 mana while Domain is active. Some common order of skills are

Bossing Setup

(if you see tengu it is used to animation cancel the previous skill)

You’ll always want to sync up your domain with your party’s big burst so it is good to communicate your cooldowns and when you’ll be using Domain and your bind.

Kanna Perfect Trio Nodes

In the V Matrix you’ll also have Boost Nodes. They are there to level up your 1st – 4th job skills past their initial cap. You’ll want to level up the most useful skills for your class and those will form your perfect trios.

For Kanna these are the perfect nodes you’ll want to look for,

Primary NodeSecondary Mobbing NodeSecondary Bossing Node

Shikigami Haunting

Ghost Yaksha Boss

Vanquisher’s Charm

Tengu Strike

Exorcist’s Charm

Shikigami Doppelganger

Kishin Shoukan

Veritable Pandemonium

Yosuzume

If you’re making a bossing mule you just need the Primary and the Secondary Bossing node.

An explanation of perfect trios and full list of all classes and their perfect trio nodes here.

All Useful 5th Job Skills for Kanna

These are all the skills you’ll need to get the most out of Kanna. Any other skills are not useful and can be disassembled.

Do not level up your Decent skills past level 1 unless you’re at the end game and min/maxing to get an extra 5 stat at max level. At level 1 all your decent skills have 100% uptime since the duration will be longer than the cooldown. Holy Symbol is the only exception since you’ll get more exp and drop rate as you level it.

Decent Sharp Eyes

Decent Combat Orders

Decent Speed Infusion

Mana Overload

Princess Sakuno’s Blessing

Decent Holy Symbol

Blink

Erda Nova

Decent Advanced Blessing

Will Of Erda

Erda Shower

Ethereal Form

Sengoku Force, Assemble!

Rope Lift

True Arachnid Reflection (Obtained from Will boss)

Solar Crest (Obtained from Seren boss)

The ones that are underlined and bolded are not necessary if making a boss mule.

Kanna 5th Job V Matrix Node Slot Priority

This is the order of what skills you should equip first,

  • Boost nodes, Decent Holy Symbol, Spirit’s Domain, Summon Yuki-musume
  • Princess Sakuno’s Blessing, Liberated Circle
  • Man Overload, Sengoku Force Assemble!
  • Level 1 Decent Sharp Eyes, Speed Infusion, Combat Orders
  • Ghost Yaksha: Great Oni Lord’s Legion

Maxing the skills in this order (except decents) is also ideal for bossing but if you want to get better training rates I would suggest putting more focus on Boost Nodes, Decent Holy Symbol, Spirit’s Domain, and Erda Shower.

Kanna 6th Job HEXA Skills

The HEXA matrix is split up into Skill Node (6th job Origin skill), Mastery Node (enhances 4th job skills), Boost Node (5th job enhancement), and Common Node (Job specific skills)

You’ll get your 1st Origin skill for free once you finish the quest line and the rest you’ll have to unlock yourself. Link to a Guide for HEXA Matrix so that you’ll have the best start possible.

6th Job Kanna HEXA Skill Priority

When starting your HEXA Matrix you’ll want to unlock everything then start putting focus on depending on if you’re a solo progression player or a party player.

If you’re a party player you’ll want to focus on your burst and getting that as high as possible. Especially important in late/end game bosses. For Kanna you’ll want to prio Hakumenkonmou Juubi, Spirit’s Domain, and HEXA Vanquisher’s Charm.

If you’re a solo progression player there are infographics online and in the Kanna discord that you can follow.

6th Job Kanna HEXA Stat Priority

For Kanna, your 1st HEXA stat node, you’ll want

  • Main Stat: Attack
  • Additional Stat: STAT
  • Additional Stat: Critical Damage

HEXA stat is an RNG type system and it doesn’t matter what you get in the beginning since it is not worth it to reroll until your entire 6th job is maxed. Once it gets to level 20 leave it there and no matter what you got it would still be at least a 2-3% FD gain.

Ideally, you want 10/10/0 but that is very costly and you shouldn’t try to go for unless you have an excess of fragments or everything is done.
