Hoyoung is one of the most versatile classes in the game. It has great mobility and so much utility in its kit. It’s a great bosser and mobber with the only downside being that it takes a little bit of time to learn. But once you do you’ll be doing so much damage and have so much freedom within a boss fight.

Hoyoung Beginner Skills
Hoyoung has 2 important skills in the beginner tab. They are Exclusive Spell and Fiend Seal.
Exclusive Spell is a big Attack buff that lasts for 40 mins and has a cooldown of 2 hours. Best to use before bossing and for Culvert.
Fiend Seal is a passive skill that gets stronger as you complete the story. Doing Hoyoung Storyline is a must for mains. At max level it will give you Attack Power +10% and Final Damage +10%.

Hoyoung 1st Job Skill Explanation
HY has a lot of skills that you will keep forever. All of HY attacks do different things which can help you cover for any situation that you are in. Hard to learn but once you’ve got it all you’ll feel so free playing the class.
Hoyoung 1st job important skills are, Humanity: As-You-Will Fan, Talisman: Evil-Sealing Gourd, and Nimbus Cloud
Talisman Energy is the 1st part of your gauge that introduces Talisman skills. Talisman skills are very useful skills that range from buffs to attack/debuffs. In order to get Talisman Energy you need to have successful hits with your Heaven, Earth, and Humanity Skills.
Humanity: As-You-Will Fan is one of your main mobbing skills. Can be used while jumping in the air and helps fill up your gauge.
Talisman: Evil-Sealing Gourd is a skill that uses Talisman energy. Honestly, you’ll never really use this will mobbing and for bossing you’ll use it every now and then off burst to get more damage in.
Nimbus Cloud is a mobility skill that lets you fly around in the air for a few seconds. You can either put this skill on a key to use or use the combination of jump and up arrow key together. I would try to get used to the jump and arrow key since it’s one less keybind taken up and HY needs a lot of keybinds.
Hoyoungs main spammable mobbing skill is Humanity: As-You-Will Fan but you rotate through a few other skills so it’s not the only one you use. But for 1st and 2nd job it will be the main one.
Skill Name | Max Lvl Description | Purpose |
Talisman Energy | Successful hits with your Heaven, Earth, and Humanity skills charge your Talisman Energy With every successful hit, grants a combo stage for that attribute and Talisman Energy charge (stage 1: 10, stage 2: 15, and stage 3: 20) The combo stage resets after reaching stage 3 | Gauge (using Humanity and Earth Skills will charge your Gauge which then allows you to use Talisman Skills) |

Hoyoung 2nd Job Skill Explanation
HY important 2nd job skills to understand are, Earth: Ground Shattering Wave, Talisman: Clone, Ritual Fan Acceleration, and Out of Sight.
/ Earth: Grounding Shattering Wave is your main skill to use when bossing. It has a faster animation than Humanity: As-You-Will Fan and with the bonus of being able to reposition quickly. This skill cannot be used in the air which is why it isn’t good for mobbing.
To use the 2nd part of the skill (Dash), after you cast once, you cast the skill again while also pressing the forward arrow key. (left or right depending on where you’re facing)
With Out of Sight active it will briefly put you in Dark Sight after you dash forward.
Talisman: Clone is an important buff skill that you should always have active whether you’re mobbing or bossing. It will cost Talisman Energy which depletes your gauge but the duration is long so you can easily get the energy back for other skills.
Ritual Fan Acceleration is another active buff skill that is for Attack Speed. No cooldown on the skill so you can keep 100% uptime, which you always should. Great for putting on a pet with auto buff.
Out of Sight is a passive skill that puts you in Dark Sight after using the 2nd part of Earth or Heaven Skills. Great for bossing but useless for mobbing. Remember that it is only active after the “Clone” (2nd part) skills so you need to anticipate and time it correctly for boss fights.
Skill Name | Max Lvl Description | Purpose |
/ Earth: Ground-Shattering Wave | MP Cost: 40, Damage: 100%, Number of Attacks: 4, Max Enemies Hit: 6 | Main Spammable Bossing Skill (Has 2 parts. After you press the skill once if you press it again and the forward arrow key you’ll charge forward) (not a teleport but it can help you dash forward quickly) |

- Heaven: Iron Fan Gale (MAX)
- Talisman: Seeking Ghost Flame (MAX)
- Scroll: Degeneration (MAX)
- Earth: Stone Tremor (MAX)
- Balanced Breath (MAX)

Hoyoung 3rd Job Skill Build Explanation
HY 3rd job introduces the 2nd part of the gauge and some important skills. They are, Heaven: Iron Fan Gale, Earth: Stone Tremor, Talisman: Seeking Ghost Flame, and Scroll: Degeneration.
Scroll Energy is the 2nd part of your gauge that introduces Scroll skills. Scrolls skills are very important since it has to do with your big summon and buff skills. To get Scroll Energy you need to have successful hits with your Heaven, Earth, and Humanity Skills or the use of Talisman skills. Talisman skills will give you more scroll energy than just Heaven, Earth, and Humanity skills.
This passive skill also has a bonus effect where if you alternate between different attributes you gain FD. This is why you should try to mix up your skills while bossing and alternate them. Burst guide below.
/ Heaven: Iron Fan Gale is a great skill that can be used for mobbing or bossing. It sends you up into the air and attacks in front of you with a clone. You should be mixing in Humanity: As-You-Will Fan and Iron Fan Gale while mobbing. It can also be used for air stalling and jumping movement from side to side if the 2nd part is used which is good for bossing.
/ Earth: Stone Tremor is mainly used as a teleport which is activated by pressing the skill again together with the left or right arrow key. It can only send you left or right and not up or down. Great for bossing and ok for mobbing since it hits both left and right sides of you.
Talisman: Seeking Ghost Flame is a summon skill that you should try to keep 100% up time on since it will add to your overall damage. It has a short duration but you should be able to generate Talisman Energy fast enough to keep up with everything. Be careful with this kill when going into loot rooms, especially Gollux. It will attack and try to break the box. It’s ok for most boxes since it takes a lot of hits but for Gollux heart it only needs 1 hit.
Scroll: Degeneration is a skill mainly used to debuff the boss before big bursts but is also great to use whenever you have the energy for extra damage on the boss. If you’re making a mule you don’t need to worry about using this skill off burst. If HY is your main you should practice your burst and work in Degeneration whenever you have the energy.
There will be a section below of what order to use your skills in so you get the most out of each skill for gauge recovery. It may seem confusing or hard at first but once you understand that you don’t need to be using all your skills at the time just because it is up, then it becomes so much easier.
Skill Name | Max Lvl Description | Purpose |
Scroll Energy | Gain 15 Scroll Energy upon successful hits with your Heaven, Earth, and Humanity skills Gain 200 Scroll Energy every time you use a Talisman Skill When an attribute skill is used, if it is different from the previously used attribute, the final damage of that magic is increased by 5% | 2nd Part of your Gauge (unlocks more skills that need to use Scroll Energy) |
/ Heaven: Iron Fan Gale | MP Cost: 45, Damage: 150%, Number of Attacks: 5, Max Enemies Hit: 6 | Mobbing and Bossing Skill (for mobbing if you just use the 1st part it will send out a clone to attack) (for bossing it can also be used as air stall or movement if 2nd part is used) |
/ Earth: Stone Tremor | MP Cost: 70, Max Enemies Hit: 10, Damage: 180%, Number of Attacks: 6, Stun Duration for Normal Monsters: 5 sec Cooldown: 6 sec | Bossing and Teleport Skill (mainly used as a teleport so that you can instantly dodge left or right) (teleport only happens when you use the 2nd part of the skill) |
Talisman: Seeking Ghost Flame | Talisman Energy Cost: 100, Flame Summon Duration: 40 sec Enemy Targeting Interval: 1.8 sec, Max Enemies Hit: 5, Damage: 210%, Number of Attacks: 5 | Summon Skill (extra mobbing and bossing) (be careful going into loot rooms since it will attack the box) |

Hoyoung 4th Job Skill Explanation
HY 4th job important skills are Heaven: Consuming Flames, Humanity: Gold-Banded Cudgel, Thousand-Ton Stone, Talisman: Warp Gate, Scroll: Star Vortex, and Scroll: Butterfly Dream.
/ Heaven: Consuming Flames is great for mobbing and ok for bossing. It has great vertical attack range and can launch you into the air by pressing the skill again together with the up arrow key. It can only be used in the air.
If you use the skill it resets your Flash Jumps and your Nimbus Cloud. So you can fly around then use Consuming Flames and fly around again all without touching the ground. Great to use while bossing for air stall and mobility resets.
Humanity: Gold-Banded Cudgel is a great little mini burst skill. Decent range for mobbing and while bossing this skill should be used every time it’s off cooldown.
Thousand-Ton Stone is mainly a skill that gets you from the air to the ground quickly while also doing a bit of damage. I would not put this skill on a keybind and instead use the double tap down arrow feature.
Talisman: Warp Gate is a utility skill that summons a gate where you’re standing and that you can teleport to by pressing the skill again. Can be useful for both mobbing and bossing but most of the time it is not worth the Talisman Energy and doesn’t last long enough.
Scroll: Star Vortex is a great mobbing and bossing skill. It summons a Vortex that deals damage to enemies near it. Try to keep this skill up but can be difficult while dealing with bosses that move a lot so better used right before burst.
If you press the skill again it will end the Vortex and restore HP and MP for you and your party based on the energy the Vortex absorbed.
Scroll: Butterfly Dream is an important buff skill that you should keep 100% up time on. The skill gives you final damage and summons butterflies that help you mob or deal damage to a boss.

Scroll: Star Vortex | Scroll Energy Cost: 900, Creates a vortex that deals 256% damage 6 times for 40 sec You can absorb 1 energy for every 4 successful hits up to 9, Attacking boss monsters absorbs 3 times the energy Using the skill again will make the vortex disappear and restore 5% of the Max HP and Max MP of party members for each energy absorbed | Summon Skill (great skill for extra damage for either mobbing or bossing) (can also recover HP and MP by ending the skill early) |
Scroll: Butterfly Dream | Scroll Energy Cost: 900, Duration: 100 sec Final Damage: +10%, Summons 5 butterflies that deal 297% damage when you attack Butterfly Summon Cooldown: 1 sec [Passive Effect: Scroll: Degeneration Damage: +400%] | Active Buff Skill (important skill to keep up since it will greatly increase your damage output) |

Hoyoung Hyper Skill Build
HY has a straightforward hyper passive build and there is no change for mules or mains.
Passives
- Empowered Harmony
- Boss Rush Harmony
- Guardbreaking Clones
- Hasty Ghost Flame
- Hasty Vortex
Actives
- Sage: Dream of Shangri-La
- Sage: Tai Yu Clone
- Sage: Tai Yu’s Miracle Tonic
Sage: Dream of Shangri-La is one of your I-Frame skills. One of the best in the game since you can control how long you want to be in I-Frame by holding the skill key down. The shorter you hold it down the lower the cooldown and can be held down for 20 seconds.
Sage: Tai Yu Clone is your bind skill. Great for bossing and used after you’re fully buffed and stunning the boss to get all of your damage off.
Sage: Tai Yu’s Miracle Tonic is a gauge recovery skill. Restores both Talisman and Scroll Energy over time and is really helpful while mobbing or bossing to keep all your skills up and for 100% up time.
Hoyoung 5th Job Skills
When you reach level 200 you’ll get access to your V Matrix and new 5th job skills. The best way to level them up is through Nodestones and Experience nodes. Hoyoung V Skills are in order of importance are, Sage: Clone Rampage, Scroll: Tiger of Songyu, Sage: Wrath of Gods, Sage: Three Paths of Apparitions.
Hoyoung 5th Job Skill Explanation
Sage: Clone Rampage is a part of your big burst combo. For 30 secs you’ll create clones which deal a ton of damage while the buff is active. 3 min cooldown.
Scroll: Tiger of Songyu is a huge summon skill that has a big attack range. Also part of your big burst combo and setup. Can be used while mobbing but it does have a long cooldown so it isn’t very reliable. 3 min cooldown.
Sage: Wrath of Gods is a buff and I-Frame skill. Part of your big big burst combo and setup. This skill has 2 parts, the 1st part when you activate the skill you’ll gain a big buff to your skills and have the gods attacking alongside you for a short duration.
The 2nd part is when you press the skill again, a short cutscene will happen where you are completely invincible and dealing massive damage. Ideally, for damage, you only activate the 2nd part right before the skill ends to get the most damage and benefit. If you don’t activate the 2nd part you’ll miss out on the I-Frame or the extra burst damage. 30 sec duration and 3 min cooldown.
Sage; Three Paths of Apparition is a part of your mini and big burst combo setup. While this skill is active you’ll be able to reset your Humanity: Gold-Banded Cudgel very often so look out for that. You’ll want to spam Cudgel and Earth: Ground-Shattering Wave while this skill is active. 90 sec cooldown so it lines up well with both mini and big burst.
Skill Name | Max Lvl Description | Purpose |
Sage: Clone Rampage | MP Cost: 1000, For 30 sec, create 10 clone(s) when attacking Each clone attacks for 440% more damage than Talisman: Clone 4 times Clone creation has a 1.5 sec cooldown Cooldown: 180 sec | Big Burst Bossing Skill |
Scroll: Tiger of Songyu | Scroll Energy Cost: 900, Duration: 60 sec., Max Enemies Hit: 12, Damage: 1980%, Number of Attacks: 8 When you reach attribute combo stage 3, its next attack will replace the normal attack with a roar that periodically deals 770% damage 4 times Tiger’s attacks have a cooldown of 3 sec Cooldown: 180 sec | Big Burst Summon Bossing Skill |
Sage: Wrath of Gods | MP Cost: 1000. Duration: 30 sec. Damage: +80% The gods strike once per 12 successful attacks, hitting up to 10 enemies for 1870% damage 8 times. Cooldown: 1.5 sec Using the skill again will immediately end its effects and summon the gods again at once, creating 6 shockwave(s) and hitting up to 15 enemies for 2200% damage 15 times You are invincible while summoning the gods. This skill negates attack ignore and attack reflection effects Upon summoning the gods, damage for Heaven, Earth, and Humanity skills, as well as Clone/True skills, increases by 20% for 30 sec Cooldown: 180 sec | Big Burst I-Frame Bossing Skill |
Sage: Three Paths of Apparition | Passive Effect: clones appears to attack up to 4 enemies with 1375% damage 6 times, cooldown: 5 sec Active Effect: MP Cost: 1250, passive effect can activate 2 times without cooldown for 30 sec, then cooldown of 2 sec applied afterwards Cooldown: 90 sec | Mini and Big Burst Buff Skill for Bossing |
Hoyoung Perfect Trio Nodes
In the V Matrix you’ll also have Boost Nodes. They are there to level up your 1st – 4th job skills past their initial cap. You’ll want to level up the most useful skills for your class and those will form your perfect trios.
For Hoyoung these are the perfect nodes you’ll want to look for,
Primary Node | Secondary Node | For Mains or Funded Mules |
Humanity | Clone | Talisman: Evil-Sealing Gourd and Thousand-Ton Stone |
Earth | Star Vortex | Degeneration |
Heaven | Talisman: Seeking Ghost Flame | Butterfly Dream |
HY uses every single skill so it can be very easy to mix and match your nodes. As long as you have all the skills boosted it’s fine. But if you’re looking for a neat and perfect setup, the above table is it. The last trio can be skipped by boss mules but if you’re a main you’ll definitely want all 3 trios.
Remember that you’ll need 2 different versions of each node setup boosting each skill twice to a max of 60 to completely max out your skills. An explanation of perfect trios and full list of all classes and their perfect trio nodes here.
All Useful 5th Job Skills for Hoyoung
These are all the skills you’ll need to get the most out of Hoyoung. Any other skills are not useful and can be disassembled.
Do not level up your Decent skills past level 1 unless you’re at the end game and min/maxing to get an extra 5 stat at max level. At level 1 all your decent skills have 100% uptime since the duration will be longer than the cooldown. Holy Symbol is the only exception since you’ll get more exp and drop rate as you level it.
Decent Sharp Eyes |
Decent Combat Orders |
Decent Speed Infusion |
Last Resort |
Grandis Goddess’s Blessing |
Erda Nova |
Decent Holy Symbol |
Blink |
Decent Advanced Blessing |
Will Of Erda |
Erda Shower |
Venom Burst |
Lotus Flower |
Rope Lift |
True Arachnid Reflection (Obtained from Will boss) |
Solar Crest (Obtained from Seren boss) |
The ones that are underlined and bolded are not necessary if making a boss mule.
Hoyoung 5th Job V Matrix Node Slot Priority
This is the order of what skills you should equip first,
- Boost Nodes, Decent Holy Symbol, Decent Sharp Eyes
- Sage: Clone Rampage, Scroll: Tiger of Songyu, Sage: Wrath of Gods, Sage: Apparition
- Last Resort, Grandis Blessing
- Decent Combat Orders, Decent Speed Infusion
Maxing the skills in this order (except decents) is also ideal for bossing but if you want to get better training rates I would suggest putting more focus on Boost Nodes, Decent Holy Symbol, and Erda Shower.
Hoyoung Gauge Recovery
HY has 2 active skills that help you with fast gauge recovery and other skills that fill the gauge with successful hits. Sage: Tai Yu’s Miracle Tonic and Grandis Goddess’s Blessing greatly speed up your ability to charge your gauge. While your other Earth, Heaven, Humanity skills charge your gauge with each successful hit.
When using gauge it is important to note that each skill will take up the entire amount of energy for that gauge. So if you want to use 2 scroll skills you need to fill up the gauge to max twice. The order of how you use the skills also matters a bit for maximum gauge. You’ll always want to use Scroll Energy first then Talisman Energy. This is because using Talisman Energy fills up the Scroll gauge but not the other way around.
When you’re setting up your burst the best thing to use is Sage Tai Yu’s Miracle Tonic. This gives you both Talisman and Scroll Energy over time so if you can use your skills quickly in that duration you can get it all off.
Hoyoung 6th Job HEXA Skills
The HEXA matrix is split up into Skill Node (6th job Origin skill), Mastery Node (enhances 4th job skills), Boost Node (5th job enhancement), and Common Node (Job specific skills)

6th Job Hoyoung HEXA Skill Priority
When starting your HEXA Matrix you’ll want to unlock everything then start putting focus on depending on if you’re a solo progression player or a party player.
If you’re a party player you’ll want to focus on your burst and getting that as high as possible. Especially important in late/end game bosses. For Hoyoung you’ll want to prio your Mastery and Origin. If training you’ll want at least level 10 Sol Janus after you unlock your other skills.
If you’re a solo progression player there are infographics online and in the Hoyoung discord that you can follow.
6th Job Hoyoung HEXA Stat Priority
For Hoyoung, your 1st HEXA stat node, you’ll want
- Main Stat: Attack
- Additional Stat: STAT
- Additional Stat: Critical Damage
HEXA stat is an RNG type system and it doesn’t matter what you get in the beginning since it is not worth it to reroll until your entire 6th job is maxed. Once it gets to level 20 leave it there and no matter what you got it would still be at least a 2-3% FD gain.
Ideally, you want 10/10/0 but that is very costly and you shouldn’t try to go for unless you have an excess of fragments or everything is done.
