Pets are finally here!… and they’re a little disappointing. We, the players, all hoped that Pets would be a huge quality of life update, but instead what we got an extra layer of management and RNG (random number generation). Putting complaints aside, here’s what you need to know about the Pet System.
To obtain Pets you’ll need to be at least Rank 20, and Pet Adoption Tickets. Pets are split into five Ranks: D, C, B, A, and S, with S being the highest Rank. There are two kinds of Pets, Lobby and Battle, each with unique abilities. You’re also about to combine Pets together to create Pets of higher Generation, which increases the amount of skills they can have. Read on for more details!
How to obtain Pets
If you’ve read our previous article on the Pet System announcement, then parts of this article will be a refresher.
In order to be able to use Pets, you’ll need to be at least Rank 20.
Upon entering the Pet House for the first time (button is in the lobby menu), you’ll get an initial adoption choice of one of three Generation 2 Battle Pets. These Generation 2 Pets will have two random B Rank skills. Generations will be explained later.
In order to get Pets into your Pet House, you’ll need Pet Adoption Tickets. These tickets are in the shop in a new menu just for Pets, labeled “Pet.” The price for the tickets is quite expensive considering how many other gold sinks there are in the game already. Here’s a list:
Item | Cost | Stock |
1 Pet Adoption Ticket | 100,000 x Gold | 5 / week |
10 Pet Adoption Tickets | 1,000,000 x Gold | 5 / week |
1 Pet Adoption Ticket | 50 x Skystone | Unlimited |
10 Pet Adoption Tickets | 500 x Skystone | Unlimited |
Normal Food | 500 x Stigma | 3 / week |
Toy | 3 x Silver Transmit Stone | 1 / week |
If you already have tickets, you can just enter the Pet House using the button in the lobby, and then press Adopt and then Adopt again.
What’s the maximum amount of Pets you can have?
Your Pet capacity starts at 30 Pets, and can currently go up to 100. Expanding the limit by 5 slots will cost 50 Skystones. So, to max out your Pet inventory limit, it’ll cost 700 Skystones total. You can have six Pets roaming the Pet House at one time. To have a pet roam the Pet House, you can select it from the list on the right and press the “+” button to the left of the Pet.
Pet Summon Rate
Adopting a Pet will give you a chance to get a Pet with a skill of D, C, B, A, or S Rank and a chance to get a special appearance. The special appearance definitely draws similarities to Shiny Pokémon being nothing but a palette swap. See the chart below for the rates:
Pet Summon Rate per Skill Rank
Skill | Drop Rate |
S Rank | 5% |
A Rank | 10% |
B Rank | 20% |
C Rank | 30% |
D Rank | 35% |
Summon Rate per Appearance
Pet | Drop Rate |
Ordinary Form | 99.5% |
Special Form | 0.05% (or 1 in 2000) |
Lobby and Battle Pets
There are two different types of Pets, Lobby and Battle Pets. Appearance of Pets will be dependant on which type of Pet it is. An adopted Biscuit will always be a Lobby Pet. Lobby Pets must be placed in the Pet slot in the lobby for its skills to have effects. Battle Pets need to be selected in the Team Formation menu before entering a stage to receive the benefits.
Both types of pets have a unique basic function. Lobby Pets have Gift Acquisition, while Battle Pets have Repeat Battling.
Gift Acquisition List
The basic function of Lobby Pets, Gift Acquisition, allow for gifts to be given to the player every 24 hours. Here is a list of potential items given:
- 2 x Flag (Arena)
- 30 x Energy
- 60 x Energy
- 1 x Book of Retribution (Hall of Trials)
- 50,000 x Gold
- 100,000 x Gold
- 150,000 x Gold
- 1 x Rare Catalyst Chest
- 1 x Epic Catalyst Chest
- 1 x Gold Transmit Stone
The exact percentages of these gifts have not been revealed.
Repeat Battling Explained
You can enable Repeat Battling in the Team Formation menu before beginning a stage. Once Repeat Battling is turned on your Pet will interact with any background objects for you, such as Treasure Chests, Goddess Statues, and Goblin Gates. The only caveat is that a Homemade Snack is required for you to continue Repeat Battling.
Homemade Snacks are obtained through doing stages. See the list of rewards before entering a stage to see if Homemade Snacks will drop.
Acquired Pet Skills
Both types of Pets have different sets of skills that they can learn. What exactly are the skills that your Pets can acquire? Here is a list for both Lobby and Battle Pets:
Lobby Pet Skills (6)
- Increased Hero Enhance EXP
- Increased Equipment Enhance EXP
- Decreased Equipment Enhance cost
- Increased Gold earned from selling Equipment
- Increased Equipment Enhance Good Success chance
- Increased Equipment Enhance Great Success chance
Battle Pet Skills (9)
- Increased Event Currency earned (Adventure/Side Story)
- Increased chance to receive double AP (Adventure/Side Story)
- Increased chance to receive 1 additional Rare Catalyst (Adventure/Side Story)
- Increased chance to receive 3 additional Common Runes (Above Spirit Altar 1)
- Increased chance to receive 2 additional Greater Runes (Above Spirit Altar 7)
- Increased chance to receive 1 additional Epic Rune (Above Spirit Altar 7)
- Increased chance to receive double Crafting Materials (Hunt)
- Increased chance to receive 1 additional piece of Equipment (Hunt)
- Increased chance to receive 1 additional Lesser Charm (Hunt)
The exact percentages will be better the higher the rank. For example: you have two Battle Pets with the skill “Increased chance to receive 3 additional Common Runes.” A C Rank Pet will have a 3% chance, while a B rank Pet will have a 4.5% chance.
How to Level Up Pets
To train you Pets, you’ll need to either use other Pets as fodder, or an item: Normal Food. These are the only methods to level them up (they don’t gain EXP for you using them).
You’ll also be able to increase Affinity of Pets. Affinity works to increase the efficiency of your skills. To increase Affinity, you can use 300 Stigma daily. Doing it this way will yield 20 Affinity points, which is a bit slow. You can speed this up by purchasing a Toy in the shop for a 100 Affinity increase with no daily limit. Maximum Affinity increases with the Generation of your Pet. Here is a chart showing a bit more on Affinity:
Generation | ★ | ★★ | ★★★ | ★★★★ | ★★★★ |
Affinity Rank & Max | (1) 0 – 250 | (2) 251 – 500 | (3) 501 – 750 | (4) 751 – 999 | (5) 1000 |
Description | Apprehensive | Familiar | Friendly | Cozy | Precious |
Reward | None | Increased Skill Effect | Increased Skill Effect | Increased Skill Effect | Increased Skill Effect & Heart Decoration |
We’ll keep you updated with skills’ exact amount increased by Affinity.
Generation and Synthesize
Every Pet has a Generation which is represented by the amount of stars it has. A Pet with two stars is a Gen 2 Pet.
Synthesizing is when you combine two Pets for a CHANCE a new and stronger Pet. You’ll need to maximize the level of your Pet in order to Synthesize them. They must be of the same Generation and the same type of Pet (Lobby or Battle). Make sure you take them out of the lobby or your battle teams.
I highlighted the fact that Synthesizing is a chance, so it can indeed fail, more on this at the end of the article.
Depending on the Generation of the Pet you’ll be able to lock a certain amount of skills. Gen 1 and 2 Pet Synthesis allows you to lock one skill when you Synthesize. At Generation 3, you’ll be able to lock two skills from Synthesis. The highest Generation currently is Gen 4. Here is a handy chart:
Generation | ★ | ★★ | ★★★ | ★★★★ |
Max # Skills | 1 | 2 | 2 | 3 |
Inherited Skills | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
So, using Synthesis you can get a Gen 4 Pet with two S Rank skills and one random skill (you’ll have to hope it’s a good Rank).
You’ll also have the choice of locking the Physical Traits of Pets, basically their appearance. This means that your Special Form pets can live on.

Miscellaneous, Bugs and Concerns
Naming Your Pet
You’ll be able to name your pets! Changing it for the first time is free, but costs 10 Skystones if you wish to change it again later.
Problems with Pets
Repeat Battling may seem like a godsend at first, but the requirement of Homemade Snacks really hinder it from being a good thing. Homemade Snacks are random drops from stages, and they don’t come that regularly. But when they do come, they replace items such as gear from the all-important W11. People are hoping that Repeat Battling won’t be gated by a currency, but until then Battle Pets will be mostly used for their passive bonuses.
Players are also hotly contesting the fact that getting a Pet to the next Generation can fail. This, along with the fact that getting S Rank skills is incredibly low, creates layers of RNG that we as players hate.
There are other smaller problems, but I won’t be bogged down by negativity and voice them all here. I just hope I’ve enlightened you all on the topic of Pets in Epic Seven and let’s hope that Smilegate provide some compromise to the complaints given by the community.
