Bishop Best Skill Build and Guide MapleStory

Bishop is one of the best supports in the game. It offers healing, huge damage buffs, dispels, EXP, drop rate, and an extra life. This class also has good solo damage so it is a very versatile class. If you want to be highly sought after and wanted in almost every party regardless of the damage you are doing, then pick Bishop.

I do not recommend making Bishop as a bossing mule because you will not be able to utilize a lot of her kit and there are much better options out there.

What I do recommend is making Bishop as a secondary support mule/main. The difference being, you’ll take this character further and participate in party bosses as opposed to just soloing Lomein and under. This way you can help out your friends and potentially join harder bosses and get the gear necessary to defeat harder bosses.

Remember Bishop is primarily a party play type of a character and has maximum usefulness when in party bosses.

Intro to Magic 1st Job Skill Explanation

Bishop’s 1st job is like all other explorer mages. The notable skills are Magic Guard and Mana Wave.

Magic Guard is a great skill that takes the damage you would receive and takes your MP instead. Not that useful while mobbing but really great for stuff like bossing. Make sure to toggle on whenever possible.

Mana Wave is another skill that is more useful in bossing than mobbing. You don’t need to put this on a key, just know how to activate it. It lets you float in the air for a few seconds which is really good in bosses where the ground is dangerous.

You’ll be using Energy Bolt as your main mobbing skill until 2nd job.

Basic Holy 2nd Job Skill Explanation

Bishop 2nd job notable skills are Heal/Angelic Wrath, Bless, and Blessed Ensemble. It is important to note that Heal and Angelic Wrath is 1 skill but with different forms. Depending on what form you’re in, that skill will appear.

Bishop has 2 different forms of skills, Benevolence and Vengeance. You’ll get a hyper skill called Righteously Indignant at level 140 which allows you to change between the 2 forms.

Benevolence form is mainly for support and Vengeance is for dealing damage.

Heal restores HP to you and your party members. Very useful in boss fights.

Angelic Wrath is the Vengeance form of Heal and it is mainly a bossing skill which deals damage while also debuffing the enemy and reducing its defense.

Bless is a buff skill that grants you and your party ATK, MATK, DEF. No cooldown so you can always keep it up.

Blessed Ensemble is a passive that gives you final damage for buffing up your party members. The more members you buff the more final damage you get. This should be very easy to keep up while party bossing and even when you’re soloing. Just use Bless for you and your party.

You’ll be using Holy Arrow as your mobbing skill instead of Energy Bolt until 3rd job.

Fountain of Vengeance is the Vengeance form of Holy Fountain and it summons a talisman that hits enemies near it.

Dispel clears all status from you and your party. Really useful in boss fights where your entire party is getting hit by status like Black Mage Blind.

Triumph Feather is the Vengeance form of Dispel and it creates feathers that will help you deal extra damage as you attack once the buff is active.

Holy Symbol is an active buff that will increase your EXP gained. Once you have access to hyper skills you’ll also be able to get increased Drop Rate as well.

Holy Magic Shell is mainly a skill used for bossing. It will restore you and your party’s HP and create a shield that reduces damage taken.

Divine Protection is an active buff that increases your Status Resistance and Elemental Resistance which is great for shortening the time on stun balls. Cooldown gets reduced when using Dispel.

Remember that Benevolence skills are good for party support and Vengeance form is good for dealing damage and mobbing. You can’t switch between them yet but you will once you get to level 140 and have access to your Hyper Skills.

Ultra Holy 4th Job Skill Explanation

Bishop has a lot of notable skills in 4th job. They are Angel Ray, Big Bang, Holy Water, Resurrection, Infinity, and Bahamut.

Angel Ray is your main bossing skill. Using it will restore HP for you and your party members which is very useful for bosses. It also applies a debuff that will increase allies’ final damage.

Big Bang is your main mobbing skill. It has a good hitbox and hits all around you.

Holy Water when used will summon chalices/grails on the map which your party members can use to restore their HP. In order to get more holy water you just need to attack with Angel Ray until you have 5 stacks. HP recovered and duration increases the more INT you have.

Blood of the Divine is the Vengeance form of Holy Water. It will give you a big final damage buff but at the cost of more damage taken and lowered HP recovery. Really great when bursting and trying to deal big damage.

Resurrection is a revive skill that also gives brief invincibility and damage when revived.

Infinity is an important skill when it comes to dealing the most damage possible. The buff gets stronger as time passes and the more buff duration you have the longer the skill will be active which is really good when trying to do maximum damage. You’ll want to time it so that when you get max FD your burst is ready to go.

Bahamut is an important summon skill because it applies a mark on the enemy which makes you deal more damage with holy skills to that enemy.

Big Bang will be your mobbing skill forever and Angel Ray will be your main spammable bossing skill forever.

Bishop Hyper Skill Build

Bishop has 3 passives that are must haves and the other 2 are preference based on mobbing vs bossing.

Must Have Passives

  • Holy Symbol – Item Drop
  • Advanced Blessing – Ferocity
  • Advanced Blessing – Boss Rush

Optional Passives

  • Holy Magic Shell – Enhance or Holy Magic Shell – Persist
  • Holy Symbol – Preparation or Holy Symbol – Experience

Actives

  • Heaven’s Door
  • Epic Adventure
  • Righteously Indignant

Personally, I would go with Holy Magic Shell – Persist and switch between Holy Symbol – Preparation/Experience depending on if I was training or not.

Heaven’s Door is basically an extra life given to you and your teammates. It has a cooldown before it can be used again but in longer boss fights you can potentially get 2-3 extra lives. Very useful in bosses and should always be cast right before going into one.

Epic Adventure is an active buff skill mainly used for bursting.

Righteously Indignant is an important skill that converts your skills to either Benevolence or Vengeance. Benevolence is more for party play and support while Vengeance is more about dealing damage and some mobbing.

Bishop 5th Job Skills

When you reach level 200 you’ll get access to your V Matrix and new 5th job skills. The best way to level them up is through Nodestones and Experience nodes. Bishop V Skills are in order of importance are, Benediction, Divine Punishment, Angel of Balance, and Peacemaker.

Bishop 5th Job Skill Explanation

Benediction is a very important skill when it comes to party bossing and is one of the reasons Bishop is so sought after. It gives Final Damage, HP, and AS which scales as you get more INT.

You can make this skill into a 2 min or 3 min cooldown depending on what your party needs. If you’re soloing you want to do 2 min and for party bossing you want to ask your members and see what a majority of them are.

There are 2 ways to make it into a 2 min cooldown. You can either right click the skill in the skill window and it will automatically be 2 min on its own after use or you need to use the skill within 5 seconds of its initial activation. This will reduce the cooldown but also the duration.

Skill NameMax Lvl DescriptionPurpose

Benediction
MP Cost: 1000, Duration: 45 sec., Final Damage (all party members in range including yourself) +5%

Party members other than yourself periodically recover 1% of max HP/MP, clear certain statuses, and have their Attack Speed increased

HP/MP Recovery: +1% per 2000 INT (up to 10% max)

Attack Speed: +1 per 10000 INT (up to +3 max)

Using the skill again within 5 sec after use reduces duration by 15 sec and cooldown by 60 sec

After use, use the skill again within 5 sec to reduce duration by 10 sec and cooldown by 60 sec

Angel of Benevolence: Grants a buff that recovers 16% of party members’ Max HP every 5 sec., and increases their damage by 5%, for 4 sec. and by 1% per 1250 INT

Bishop Perfect Trio Nodes

In the V Matrix you’ll also have Boost Nodes. They are there to level up your 1st – 4th job skills past their initial cap. You’ll want to level up the most useful skills for your class and those will form your perfect trios.

For Bishop these are the perfect nodes you’ll want to look for,

Primary NodeSecondary Node

Angel Ray

Heaven’s Door / Fountain of Vengeance

Heal / Angelic Wrath

Genesis / Triumph Feather

Bahamut

Big Bang

For Bishop mains and mules you’ll want both Primary and Secondary nodes.

An explanation of perfect trios and full list of all classes and their perfect trio nodes here.

All Useful 5th Job Skills for Bishop

These are all the skills you’ll need to get the most out of Bishop. Any other skills are not useful and can be disassembled.

Do not level up your Decent skills past level 1 unless you’re at the end game and min/maxing to get an extra 5 stat at max level. At level 1 all your decent skills have 100% uptime since the duration will be longer than the cooldown.

Decent Sharp Eyes

Decent Combat Orders

Decent Speed Infusion

Unreliable Memory

Maple World Goddess’s Blessing

Erda Nova

Mana Overload

Blink

Ethereal Form

Will Of Erda

Erda Shower

Decent Mystic Door

Decent Hyper Body

Rope Lift

True Arachnid Reflection (Obtained from Will boss)

Solar Crest (Obtained from Seren boss)

The ones that are underlined and bolded are not necessary if making a boss mule. Decent Mystic Door and Decent Hyper Body should only be kept if you are planning to min max the character and you have an excess of nodestones. The only reason they are there is because Bishop has extra slots and they give a very small amount of passive stat.

Bishop 5th Job V Matrix Node Slot Priority

This is the order of what skills you should equip first,

  • Boost nodes
  • Benediction, Divine Punishment, Angel of Balance, Peacemaker
  • Unreliable Memory, Level 1 Decent Speed Infusion, Sharp Eye, Combat Orders
  • Mana Overload, Maple World Goddess’s Blessing

If you want to get better training rates I would suggest putting more focus on Boost Nodes and Erda Shower.

If you’re looking to level up the best skills for bossing you’ll want to prioritize Unreliable Memory. Then evenly level Divine Punishment, Angel of Balance, Peacemaker. Then Mana Overload, Maple World Goddess’s Blessing, and Benediction.

If this is a main you’ll max everything anyways so the other is not that important.

Bishop 6th Job HEXA Skills

The HEXA matrix is split up into Skill Node (6th job Origin skill), Mastery Node (enhances 4th job skills), Boost Node (5th job enhancement), and Common Node (Job specific skills)

6th Job Bishop HEXA Skill Priority

When starting your HEXA Matrix you’ll want to unlock everything then start putting focus on depending on if you’re a solo progression player or a party player.

If you’re a party player you’ll want to focus on your burst and getting that as high as possible. Especially important in late/end game bosses. For Bishop you’ll want to prio Benediction, HEXA Angel Ray, and Holy Advent.

If you’re a solo progression player there are infographics online and in the Bishop discord that you can follow.

6th Job Bishop HEXA Stat Priority

For Bishop, your 1st HEXA stat node, you’ll want

  • Main Stat: Attack
  • Additional Stat: STAT
  • Additional Stat: Critical Damage

HEXA stat is an RNG type system and it doesn’t matter what you get in the beginning since it is not worth it to reroll until your entire 6th job is maxed. Once it gets to level 20 leave it there and no matter what you got it would still be at least a 2-3% FD gain.

Ideally, you want 10/10/0 but that is very costly and you shouldn’t try to go for unless you have an excess of fragments or everything is done.
