Beast Tamer Class Guide and Skill Build – MapleStory

Beast Tamer can be pretty elusive because you can only make one whenever Nexon allows you to make one. Beast Tamer can be a little complicated since their skill build and system is very different compared to all the other classes. But, Beast Tamer has a great link skill and legion effect, so it is very worth your time and investment.

Beast Tamer’s primary attribute is Intelligence (INT) and bases her moves and skills off of animals like, Bear, Snow Leopard, Hawk, and Cat. When it comes to making a link mule or an actual training/bossing class, you are going to do the skill build differently.

What To Know Before You Make A Beast Tamer

If you’re lucky enough to make a Beast Tamer because the Nexon God has allowed it, then you are going to need to know a few things. At the time of this article the latest changes to Beast Tamer have drastically lowered the DPS by fixing the passive stacking bug (halving the DPS).

In the past you were able to stack the passives after changing forms which made Beast Tamer a pretty strong class. That has since been removed so don’t rely on anything that says to passive stack. They also make a lot of changes to Hawk Mode to try and balance the class so it isn’t the worst.

Beast Tamer’s are pretty unique when it comes to skill builds because if you are only training to level up the link skill, it is much faster to only get Leopard and some Bear while people looking to main Beast Tamer should get Bear, Hawk, and Cat. This is explained more below in the skill build section.

If you can create a Beast Tamer during a Tera Burning event, I highly recommend you make your Beast Tamer the Tera Burning character. Since it has a really good link skill and can go up to level 3 you are going to want your Beast Tamer at 210 anyways.

Beast Tamer Shared Cash Shop

When it comes to the Cash Shop, the characters that are of the same Race can share NX items and Cash Shop items with each other.

Beast Tamer is currently its own race and shares a Cash Shop with only:

  • Beast Tamer

Beast Tamer’s Link Skill is called Focus Spirit which is a very good link skill that gives Boss Damage, Critical Rate, Max HP, and Max MP.

Beast Tamer Best Inner Ability

When it comes to Beast Tamer, the best lines to get are Attack Speed (Primary), Buff Duration (Secondary), and Magic Attack (Last line). Inner Ability will only really matter if you’re trying to main this character. If you’re just going for 210 so you can get the link skill Meso and Drop rate has more value.

Primary Line: you want Attack Speed so that you can go from 1 to 0 (with all other AS buffs like green pot), this will give you the most increase of damage. Boss Damage is also a good line if you are going to be bossing a lot.

Secondary Line: Buff duration is best here because of how good Cat Mode and Meow Card is at giving you and party buffs. Also you want your new Hyper Skill, All Together! Critter Crossing! to be up as long as possible.

3rd Line: This line can really be anything, if you are in Reboot consider Item Drop/Meso rate, otherwise Magic Attack is great.

(Getting the perfect IA is pretty hard but ideally this is what you want to go for)

Beast Tamer Skill Build

This build will have 2 sections where one is specifically for Link Training and the other is for Beast Tamer Mains. The main difference is that for Link Training you will not be investing in animals that give you more party buffs which is necessary if you are going to main one and do Bosses. One thing that you can do is use the Link Training style and then SP reset if you really like the class and want to continue on with it.

Also, Beast Tamer’s skill book looks very different from the other classes since they don’t have 1st job, 2nd job, 3rd job, but it is pretty much the same so don’t be too thrown off.

Beast Tamer A Guardian’s Blessing

Don’t forget to claim all your gifts in the A Guardian’s Blessing Quest! There are Animal SP Potions, Chairs, and various Scrolls that will help out your Beast Tamer progression.

Beast Tamer Skill Build for Link Training

Important Leopard skills are, Attack Key, Thunder Dash, Macho Dance. Attack key triggers your skills like Leopards Roar and Pounce while Thunder Dash and Macho Dance are great for moving Horizontally and Diagonally respectively.

Leopard + Bear. Throw all your SP into Leopard first and the rest into Bear once Leopard is maxed. Leopard is really good because of how great the mobility and damage buffs. Hawk mode also has great training capabilities but you are more reliant on one-shotting with Defensive Formation and most people might not be able to accomplish this.

After you finish getting all your Leopard skills you’ll want to throw some into Bear and Paw Swipe some Bosses like Horntail and Zakum for even more EXP. Leave Deep Breath + Really Deep Breath at Level 1 and Fort the Brave at level 19 since level 20 doesnt give a boost.

After Bear, and you’re going for 210, you’ll want to invest in Cat. Get the minimum amount in Actives and really focus heavily on the Passives like Cat Wit and Kitty Battle Squad. (Only useful when you have and use the Hyper Skill, All Together! Critter Crossing!)

Beast Tamer Skill Build for Mains

Hawk + Bear + Cat. If you want to main Beast Tamer, that means you want to do Bosses and that means you’ll need more buffs and utility. Hawk Mode will be your main form of Training and Mobbing while Bear is used for Bossing and Cat is used for buffing.

In order to be the most effective with Hawk you ideally want to be able to One-Shot or at least Two-Shot with Baby Bombers and Defensive Formation. If you don’t want to use Hawk, Leopard + Bear + Cat also works but you really lose a lot of utility and power

Important Hawk skills are Fly, Baby Bombers, and Defensive Formation. Fair warning, you will probably have a rough time at early levels if your Defensive Formation cannot kill mobs. While flying you can’t use your Basic Formation Attack skill and Formation Attack only hits left and right and cannot be used while jumping.

Once you unlock Baby Bombers you’ll be able to Fly in the middle of a map and just spam Baby Bombers while Defensive Formation is doing work in the background as well. Since you can’t have Fly up forever, after you drop down a good skill to use is the 5th Job skill Cub Cavalry. If you’re not 5th job, just use the Attack key till you can Fly again.

After Hawk, you’ll want to invest in Bear because moves like Furious Strikes and Li’l Fort help a lot when doing Bosses. Then after Bear, Cat has a lot of amazing passive buffs that can be helpful.

Note that you cannot apply these buffs unless you’re using that animal. The way to have Cat buffs while in Hawk is to use the Hyper Skill, “All Together! Critter Crossing!” The main reason you want Buff Duration is to have this skill up as long as possible since it gives you all the buffs from all animals.

Beast Tamer Hyper Skills

The best Passive Hyper Skills for training are:

Three-Point Pounce – Extra Strike

Three-Point Pounce – Reinforce

Furious Strikes – Reinforce

Furious Strikes – Extra Strike

Furious Strikes – Boss Rush

The best Passive Hyper Skills for mains are:

Formation Attack – Spread

Formation Attack – Reinforce

Furious Strikes – Reinforce

Furious Strikes – Extra Strike

Furious Strikes – Boss Rush

The main difference is if you use Hawk or Leopard. So if you use Leopard for your main, you’ll want the same setup as the training one.

Beast Tamer V Matrix and Perfect Nodes

If you’re only going for link skill training, you probably don’t need this part but if you want some extra damage it is good to know what to invest in.

Bear + Hawk + Cat: Furious Strikes, Li’l Fort, Formation Attack, Tornado Flight

Bear + Leopard + Cat: Furious Strikes, Li’l Fort, Leopard’s Paw, Three-Point Pounce, Thunder Dash, Macho Dance.

Since most of the V Skills upgrade 2 skills for the slot of one, it is very easy to maximize your nodes. For example, Formation Attack and Baby Bomber are packaged together.
The other nodes to have are the obvious 5th Job actives like Cub Calvary, Champ Charge, Aerial Relief and the staple Decent Sharp Eyes, Decent Speed Infusion, Decent Advanced Blessing, Decent, Combat Orders, Decent Holy Symbol, and Mana Overload.
