When it comes to burning characters the most important thing is what that character will be used for. A new Main? Secondary Main? Bossing Mule? Legion Effect? By the end of this you’ll know exactly which character to choose for your next level 260 and some troubles you might run into along the way.
The best classes to hyper burn are Battle Mage, Mercedes, Dawn Warrior, Night Lord, and Night Walker These have the benefit of being great at bossing, good training, and do well in party bossing. More specific info below.
What is Hyper Burning?
MapleStory has introduced Hyper Burning which allows your character to gain an extra 2 levels for every 1 level they gain up to level 260. This can either be a new character that you create or you can give the effect to an already existing character that is at least level 200.
I would say there are 3 types of Hyper Burning characters. They are Mains, Boss Mules, and Legion Block Characters. In terms of value I would rank them Boss Mule, Main, and then Legion Block.
Using a Hyper Burn for your main is great since you’ll get a lot of free stuff and gear which for a newer player is really good. But, if you’re more of an established player and waiting for a hyper burn to make your character, it is actually a bit of a loss. The stuff you get from the event is easily obtained and it is much better to get your symbol dailies started earlier.
Bossing mules have the highest value because you save so much time and resources using a hyper burn. Just doing dailies and Monster Park will get you to 260 during the event time.
Since a Hyper Burn will go to 260 it will be wasteful just making a character for its level 250 legion block. Also, making 250 characters nowadays has become much easier because of all the events and exp they give away for participating in the event.
Currently in the game making a second main is not good. There is so much to do on your main like farming for fragments, 6th job, level 300, perfecting gear. It is just not worth it to split that time with another character anymore. Unless you want to, but be aware your main will be taking a hit.
What Level Should I Start Hyper Burning?
During the event you’ll be able to create a new character with the Hyper Burn effect or choose an existing character to have the Hyper Burn effect. If you’re choosing an existing character you’ll want to be at level 200 to get the most benefit.
Also, keep in mind that you cannot use any level up potions on a burning character.
Best Class To Hyper Burn?
I believe these are the top classes to burn. This can change depending on what your account needs.
Benefits | |
Battle Mage | Great Solo Bossing, Low Funding, Easy to Train, and can get into hard boss parties easily |
Dawn Warrior | Great Solo Bossing, Low Funding, Easy to Train, and can get into hard boss parties easily |
Mercedes | Great Solo Bossing, Low Funding, Easy to Train, and can get into hard boss parties easily, Good Legion Block |
Night Lord | Great Solo Bossing, Easy to Train, Good Legion Block |
Night Walker | Great Solo Bossing, Low Funding, Easy to Train |
If you’re looking for a main, it is a purely personal choice. Take into consideration, Training, Bossing, and Aesthetic to find the best character for you. Training and Aesthetics are important since you’ll have to look at your class all the time and spend a lot of time training.
If you already have a main and only want to strictly make a bossing mule then consider, Hero, Dawn Warrior, Night Walker, Night Lord, Bowmaster, and Marksman.
If you already have too many bossing mules or you don’t have the time to play another bossing mule then you’ll want to go for a character with a good legion block so that your account will still be making big gains.
For better bossing, Shade(Crit Damage), Hayato(Crit Damage), Demon Avenger(Boss Damage), Kanna(Boss Damage), Lynn(IED), and Blaster(IED).
For better training and meso gain, Zero(+EXP obtained), Phantom(+Meso obtained)
What Bosses can you expect to clear with a 260 bossing mule?
With a level 260 bossing mule you’ll ideally want to clear up to Hard Lotus/Damien. Any further will require a ton of funding and time spent so it is not recommended. It is ideal to stop at HLomien because it is easy to achieve and Lotus can drop a Black Heart which can be put in storage for your entire account to use.
You’ll make around 2.5-3 bil a week on this mule depending on how much time you want to spend on the character doing bosses.
If you are going to do the harder bosses, make sure to join a guild. Having access to guild skills will make the runs significantly shorter and save you a lot of time. Most guilds just require you to do Culvert once a week to maintain your guild skills.
How To Prepare For Hyper Burning?
Personally, the first thing I prepare is the fit of my character. How my character looks greatly affects if I want to play it or not.
Besides the fit, if you’re burning an already existing character try to get your equipment and nodestones ready so that you’ll have an easier time progressing. Since the event will usually provide you with temporary CRA gear you’ll want to get stuff like Zak Eye + Face, Horntail Ring + Pendant, Normal Arkarium Mechanator/Dominator, Normal Magnus Shoulder + Badge. Along the way as you level you’ll want to get stuff like Pink Bean Cup + Belt and Event Rings to fill out the rest of your slots.
If you can, you’ll want to throw a good amount of nodes on this character as well. I’d say 100-150 nodes depending on how hard it is to find your perfect nodes. The perfect trios for all classes linked here!
If you plan to take the character to Hard Lotus/Damien you’ll want to max out your boost and skill nodes. This will give you the most damage and you can save on cubing your gear. If you want to stay at Normal Lotus/Damien, level 15 and less nodes will be fine.
Troubles You Will Run Into While Hyper Burning
Some issues that you’ll run into while Hyper Burning is that you’ll be leveling too fast. Sounds crazy but new areas that you’ll visit will have Arcane Force requirements which make you deal less damage if not met. Make sure to do your dailies and use any selector coupons on that character. Another way to get more Arcane Force is to put some points into it in your Hyper Stats.
If you’re making a bossing mule do not make meso or drop gear. You’ll want your gear to be all damage and as much of it as you can. Forget about drop and meso lines since the goal of a boss mule is to get the boss crystals as fast as possible and log off.
One big trouble I see with Hyper Burning mules is, some are super over funded. Eventually you can make up the costs but having a full 22 star Legendary gear with Arcanes at level 260 is a huge waste of meso. Remember, you’re trying to spend as little as you can while getting as much meso as you can on boss mules.
What Gear Should I Have On Hyper Burn Character
This will depend on what bosses you’re trying to clear. If you’re only trying to clear Normal Lotus/Damien and under, 17 star CRA + Abso, all unique with 2 lines of stat, and level 15 and less nodes. This will let you clear everything within 30 mins or less.
If you’re aiming for Hard Lotus/Damien, I suggest 20-21 star CRA, 17 star Arcanes or 20-21 star Abso, 2 useful legendary lines on WSE, Max Nodes, and all gear at least unique with 2 lines of stat.
Minimal Effort Hyper Burning Training
If you don’t feel like hardcore grinding all the levels ASAP then consider the minimal effort way. Just do your Arcane Dailies, Monster Park x7, and whatever Event dailies going on and log off. You’ll have around 3 months before the Hyper Burning event so don’t burn yourself out speed running to 260. Dailies and Monster Park give so much EXP that you’ll definitely be able to make it to 260 just doing that.
