Currently there is a list and survey out that is recording players catch and hatch rate with Shiny Pokémon. The results are quite surprising! Check out if you have one of the rarest Shiny Pokemon in the game.
The newest Shiny additions to Pokémon GO include the Alolan Pokémon, Poliwag, Rayquaza, and hat-wearing Pikachu. If you’re wondering what the absolute rarest Shiny Pokémon are, they are Shiny Abra and Shiny Clefairy since they were only released during GO Fest and for a limited time before they removed them.
Top 5 Rarest Shiny Pokémon
According to the community, the top 5 rarest Shiny Pokémon are Abra, Witch-hat Pichu, Clefairy, Party-hat Pichu, and Alolan Vulpix. There is less than 4% of players that have even one of these Pokémon. If you have any of these, count yourself as one of the luckiest players in the game.
Most Useful Shiny Pokémon
The most useful Shiny Pokémon I believe are the ones that look cool and have top tier strength. Those being Rayquaza, Kyogre, Alakazam, and Metagross. You might have a different list than me, but personally if I saw my opponent with them or in a gym, I would be worried.
Best place to find Shiny Pokémon
The way you can find Shiny Pokemon is through hatching, raids, the wild, and research encounters. If looking in the wild, you’ll have the best chance when hunting at nests. Nests are where a large amount of one type of Pokémon typically spawn. Raids will offer a 1 in 20 chance, so make sure to save up and get those premium passes if you are looking for a specific legendary Pokémon. Hatching and research encounters are not as good since the contents of an egg are random and research is tedious. The best way to actually get a Shiny is through Community Day!
Raid and Community Day Shiny Pokémon
The most reliable way to find Shiny Pokémon is through Community Day. The only drawback being that you can only find the specific Pokémon that is boosted that day. Community Day is a day where for three hours there will be an increased encounter rate for both normal and shiny versions of a specific Pokémon. The chances of you getting a shiny during the Community Day time is very very high.
Raids are one of two ways you can get a Shiny Legendary Pokémon. The other being through the research breakthroughs. Raids offer a more consistent chance since you can keep doing raids till you run out of passes. Raids are a 5% chance of getting a Shiny Pokémon and can be your best bet at catching that legendary shiny.
Personal Top Shiny Pokémon
The best looking shiny Pokémon to me are the ones that stand out the most and are kinda ugly. Hear me out! The reason I love ugly Shiny Pokemon is because of how well they stand out. What’s the point of a Shiny Pokémon that looks exactly like the original? I’m talking about you, Shiny Scyther, Pikachu, and Gengar! My top Shiny Pokémon are Raquaza, Ponyta/Rapidash, Psyduck, Kyogre, Lopunny, and Magikarp.
All of them look amazing and you can see the clear difference between their normal counterparts.
