Besides collecting in Pokemon TCG Pocket there is a battle aspect which is simple and fun. This will go over the best META cards to go for in the Genetic APEX A1 packs so you can have an easier time in PVP modes.

The best cards to go for in Charizard pack
Sabrina (One of the best cards in the game and can save you in a ton of situations. Not required for all decks but you’ll almost always see at least 1 in every deck)
Exeggutor ex (Has high HP and a chance to deal 80 damage for just 1 energy makes this card really good in almost any grass deck)
Starmie ex (A great addition to any water deck since it has no retreat cost, only stage 1, and 90 damage for 2 energy)
Moltres ex (energy is very important in Pocket so having a Pokemon generate energy makes it a superb card)
Charizard ex (pairs really well with Moltres ex and one shots every Pokemon in the game currently) |
Other really good cards in this pack are Blaine, Erika, Machamp ex, and Greninja. These cards might not be played as much due to stuff like not good for the current meta or only work in specific decks.
The best cards to go for in Pikachu pack
Pikachu ex (very easy to set up for quick and big damage)
Zapdos ex (great in any electric deck with lots of HP and a chance to deal 200 damage)
Wigglytuff ex (works well in a lot of decks since it uses colorless energy and has a useful ability which can completely shut down opponents if they are unlucky)
Misty (A required card in all water decks since energy is required to do anything and Misty can give you some) |
Some other great cards are Blastoise ex, Brock, Lt. Surge, Raichu, and Arcanine ex. These aren’t played as much due to stuff like setup taking too long or not right for the current meta. They are still great cards and can win you a ton of battles in the right decks.
The best cards to go for in Mewtwo pack
Mewtwo ex (Currently one of the top meta decks is with Mewtwo ex since it is a basic Pokemon with high HP and a really strong attack) (really strong when paired with Gardevoir)
Gardevoir (Gardevoir makes psychic decks really strong since it is able to generate energy for Psychic pokemon. Pairs really well with Mewtwo ex)
Weezing (A card that can fit into almost any deck since all you need is its ability to deal annoying damage every turn. Really good when paired with Koga)
Marowak ex (A card that can be super hype or super frustrating since it relies on flipping coins to deal either 0,80, or 160 damage with just 2 energy)
Koga (only works with Weezing or Muk but is a staple card if you’re using either) (you can pull your active Weezing or Muk when it’s in danger to save yourself a point or if you just need to retreat quickly)
Giovanni (A very useful card since there are a lot of attacks where all you need is just 10 more damage to finish them off)
Articuno ex (When paired with Misty you could win a match turn 1 and it has a great attack and decent HP) |
Other great cards in the Mewtwo pack are Venusaur ex, Gengar ex, Hitmonlee, and Pidgeot. These cards are considered off meta since they have big weaknesses like taking too long to set up, not enough damage, or just weak to the current meta. They can still be fun to play and get you a lot of wins in the right decks.
Evolution Lines Are All Together
Did you know that the full evolution line is in the same pack? For example, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard are all obtained from the Charizard pack and Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur are all in the Mewtwo pack.
So if you pull a specific card like Dragonite from the Mewtwo pack and you want the whole evolution line, you need to keep pulling the mewtwo pack for Dragonair and Dratini. (or use pack points)
Crown rares can be obtained in any pack so you can get a Charizard Crown Rare from a pikachu pack.
