Pokémon Masters EX: Best Zinnia & Rayquaza Sync Grid Builds

Zinnia & Rayquaza gain a sync grid that doesn’t change how they are played from their base kit, but it does render Zinnia’s Stellar Imagination! rather useless, and that’s a good thing. Rayquaza can find a place on any weather team, but it might only be there until you can get one of the specialized Strikers for weather.

The best Zinnia and Rayquaza sync grid builds are, Sync Level 2, Outrage, Draco Meteor, and Weather Sync.

Universal Upgrades (Sync Level 3)

HP +10

Attack +10

Defense +5

Sp. Atk +5

Sp. Def +5

Speed +10

Outrage Power +6

Weather Surge 3

Universal Upgrades are for the sync level 3 builds only. Every build picks up +6 power to Outrage because every build also picks up Weather Surge 3, which increases the power of moves while weather conditions are active on the battlefield. It stacks with Rayquaza’s passive Weather Surge 3 to become Weather Surge 6 for a 60% increase on Outrage and Draco Meteor.

Sync Grid Builds

Sync Level 2 Build

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738

Total Energy Used: 59

(Build Link)

All Upgrades:

HP +10

Attack +10

Defense +5

Sp. Atk +15

Sp. Def +10

Speed +10

Outrage Power +3

Outrage Move Gauge Refresh 2

Aerial Ace Power +4

Draco Meteor Power +9

Draco Meteor Accuracy +10

Draco Meteor Move Gauge Refresh 2

Stellar Imagination! MP Refresh 2

Recommended Lucky Skill:

Dauntless

There are no passive skills you can pick up at sync level 2 to change how Rayquaza should be used, so at this stage the best use of energy is to get Refresh tiles and move power tiles. Outrage gains +9 power total and a Move Gauge Refresh 2. Zinnia’s Trainer move, Stellar Imagination!, picks up MP Refresh 2

Draco Meteor is the better move because it has higher base power and its drawback is nullified by the lucky skill Dauntless. It prevents Rayquaza’s Sp. Atk from being lowered. Draco Meteor gains +9 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 2. Picking up both accuracy +5 tiles results in Draco Meteor having 100 accuracy.

Outrage Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750

Total Energy Used: 60

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

HP +20

Attack +20

Defense +5

Outrage Power +6

Outrage Move Gauge Refresh 2

Clearheaded

Recommended Lucky Skill:

Critical Strike 2

Outrage gains a total of +12 power and Move Gauge Refresh 2 which will have a 30% chance to return one bar to the move gauge after a successful attack. Clearheaded prevents Rayquaza from becoming confused from Outrage or from an opponent’s attack. The recommended lucky skill is Critical Strike 2 because it will increase damage whenever an attack is a critical hit. Rayquaza cannot raise its critical-hit rate on its own, so you will need an ally to do it.

Draco Meteor Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750

Total Energy Used: 60

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

Sp. Atk +10

Sp. Def +5

Aerial Ace Power +4

Draco Meteor Power +3

Draco Meteor Accuracy +10

Draco Meteor Move Gauge Refresh 2

Grand Entry 2

Recommended Lucky Skill:

Dauntless

Grand Entry 2 will raise Rayquaza’s Sp. Atk by two stages when it enters the battlefield, meaning an ally may not need to rely on a refresh triggering to give Rayquaza the final two it needs to max its Sp. Atk. Although Stellar Imagination! raises Rayquaza’s Sp. Atk by +2 it also lowers Defense and Sp. Def by -2 each time. Allies can deliver the same without the drawback.

Draco Meteor gains +10 accuracy, raising the accuracy from 90 to 100, so Stellar Imagination! is not needed for that either. Draco Meteor only gains +3 power but it has Move Gauge Refresh 2 for a 30% chance to return one bar to the move gauge. Dauntless prevents Sp. Atk from being lowered, meaning Draco Meteor’s drawback is nullified.

Weather Sync Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738

Total Energy Used: 59

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

Sp. Atk +10

Sp. Def +5

Draco Meteor Power +3

Draco Meteor Move Gauge Refresh 2

Dimensional Defender Draco Meteor Power +50

Weather Sync-Up 3

Recommended Lucky Skill:

Dauntless

Dimensional Defender Draco Meteor gains +50 power but the real boost in damage comes from Weather Sync-Up 5. It increases the sync move’s power by 50% when weather conditions are in effect. While the sync move is the focus of this build, Draco Meteor gains +3 power and Move Gauge Refresh 2 which has a 30% chance of returning one bar to the move gauge after a successful attack. Picking up the lucky skill Dauntless nullifies Draco Meteor’s -2 to Sp. Atk after the move because it prevents Rayquaza’s Sp. Atk from being lowered.
