Pokémon Masters EX: Best Skyla & Swanna Sync Grid Builds

Skyla & Swanna were always a highly rated pair and their sync grid made them one of the best support units. As a free pair, unlocking sync level 2 and 3 are more difficult, but it’s worth dedicating your resources to making them much stronger. The grid not only has multiple tiles dedicated to making their Potions better, but they are all located together, meaning you’re easily able to nab all of them. Every build shares most tiles, so the differences are minor.

The best sync grid builds for Skyla & Swanna are A Flap of the Wings, Blow Them Off Their Feet, and Fluffed Up Feathers.

A Flap of the Wings (3/5) is best for teams where every bar on the move gauge counts for ally sync pairs. Blow Them Off Their Feet (3/5) uses Gust to stagger opponents and disrupt their attacks. Fluffed Up Feathers (3/5) is a purely defensive build and the only one to have a sync level 2 variant.

Universal Upgrades

HP +10

Attack +5

Defense +10

Sp. Atk +5

Sp. Def +10

Speed +5

Potion MP Refresh 2

Potion MP Refresh 2

Take Flight! MP Refresh 3

Master Healer 1

Master Healer 1

Universal Lucky Skill Recommendation:

Vigilance, Rock Guard

The universal upgrades take up 45 energy, but they are just that good.  Potion MP Refresh 2 has a 30% chance to restore one use of the move. With both tiles, there is a 9% chance to restore two uses. Each Master Healer 1 tile will increase Swanna’s Potion healing by 10%. Take Flight! MP Refresh 3 will potentially restore one use of the move, which would allow you to reach +6 Defense and Speed for your sync pair team.

With Swanna as your tank, the lucky skill Vigilance is always a good choice. It prevents opponents from having any critical hits land on Swanna and bypass her raised defenses. If the opponents don’t rely on critical hits or you must face Rock-type teams, Rock Guard will help against Swanna’s weakness by reducing damage received by attack moves by 30%. It will not reduce the damage of any Rock-type sync moves.

Sync Grid Builds

A Flap of the Wings Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750

Total Energy Used: 60

(build link)

Unique Upgrades:

Sp. Atk +5

Gust Power +12

Gust Move Gauge Refresh 9

Sync Level 2:

Not recommended

Beyond Swanna’s buffing and healing abilities, her sole purpose is to assist her allies in ticking down the sync move counter. This build chooses to use Gust Move Gauge Refresh 9, which will always restore one bar to the move gauge–essentially making Swanna’s attacks free.

Blow Them Off Their Feet Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750

Total Energy Used: 60

(build link)

Unique Upgrades:

Defense +10

Gust Staggering 1

Sync Level 2:

Not recommended

In contrast to BUILD, this build is best on teams that benefit from opponents being staggered. Alternatively, it is beneficial to interrupt opponents and preventing them from attacking. Gust Staggering 1 will cause the move to have a 20% chance to stagger the target. On such a cheap move, Swanna can help you outpace the opponent’s sync move countdown with well timed staggers.

Fluffed Up Feathers Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750

Total Energy Used: 60

(build link)

Unique Upgrades:

Defense +5

Sp. Def +15

Unbending

Sync Level 2:

– Potion MP Refresh 2

+ Defense +10

+ Speed +5

As a free pair, Skyla & Swanna are a difficult pair to reach sync level 3, which locks Gust’s Staggering 1 and Move Gauge Refresh 9 away. Without access, the best option for Swanna is to opt for a full tank build. This one picks up Unbending, which will prevent Swanna’s Defense from being lowered, but more stat gain tiles are not a bad choice either.

At sync level 2, the second Potion MP Refresh 2 is locked away, so it is recommended to pick up more stat gain tiles.
