As a Free-to-Play sync pair, Professor Sycamore & Xerneas are a great boon to all players and their sync grid provides them skills to stay up on the field and reach a quicker, more powerful sync move. Putting them with Sygna Suit Blue & Blastoise is an interesting combo that makes your team extra bulky, your power hitter may be missing out on some much needed Potions. Focusing on one move will allow it to reach its full potential, but when your team needs the versatility, getting the best of both is not a bad idea.
The best sync grid builds for Professor Sycamore and Xerneas are Horn Leech, Moonblast, and Hybrid (Lv 2 & 3)
Universal Upgrades
HP +10
Attack +5
Defense +5
Sp. Atk +5
Sp. Def +10
Speed +5
The World Is Vast! MP Refresh 2
Adrenaline 1
Universal Recommended Lucky Skill:
Critical Strike 2, Power Flux 3
Professor Sycamore’s Trainer move is only usable once, but it is so beneficial that all builds pick up The World Is Vast! MP Refresh 2 to give you a chance at using it again. Similarly, Adrenaline 1 will reduce the sync move countdown by 1 after the first time Xerneas uses its sync move. With Gentlemanly Geomancy boosting special stats and Speed, Xerneas and its allies are sure to put all their might into the second sync move.
Depending on if Xerneas has critical-hit rate support or not, the recommended lucky skill for the builds are Critical Strike 2 or Power Flux 3. Critical Strike 2 will boost damage for all of Xerneas’ critical hits and Power Flux 3 improves the move’s power based on how full the move gauge is. Since The World Is Vast! increases the rate of recharge and Gentlemanly Geomancy improves Speed, reaching max gauge shouldn’t be too difficult for your team.
If you’re finding Xerneas succumbing to ill timed critical hits, sacrificing some power to pick up Vigilance instead is not a bad idea.
Sync Grid Builds
Horn Leech Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:
Defense +10
Sp. Def +10
Horn Leech Power +6
Horn Leech Move Gauge Refresh 3
Horn Leech Master Healer 1
Horn Leech Master Healer 1
Sync Level 2:
Not recommended
Focusing on Xerneas’ Grass-type Horn Leech move shifts it to being a more defensive, sustaining role, though that doesn’t mean it can’t pack a punch. Horn Leech picks up +6 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 3 tile.
Horn Leech restores HP based on the amount of damage dealt, so boosting Xerneas’ Attack and critical-hit rate should be a factor in who you choose to be its ally. Only Phoebe & Dusknoir will provide both without conditions. Grabbing two tiles of Master Healer 1 will help keep Xerneas up and fighting by increasing the amount of health restored whenever the attacks lands a hit.
At sync level 2, Xerneas loses out on a Master Healer 1 and Adrenaline 1 and no longer has access to any other passive skill. If you want to use Horn Leech, go for the Hybrid build instead.
Moonblast Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:
Sp. Atk +10
Moonblast Power +9
Moonblast Move Gauge Refresh 3
Moonblast On a Roll 1
Impervious
Sync Level 2:
Not recommended
With a lack of strong Fairy-type Strikers, Moonblast comes and fills in that gap, especially with Xerneas’ passive skill Fairy Power 5. Moonblast picks up +9 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 3.
Moonblast has a chance of lowering the opponent’s Sp. Atk, but On a Roll 1 will add an additional chance of that happening. You may be lucky enough for it to occur twice as well. With Gentlemanly Geomancy raising Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed, you will want Impervious to prevent any of Xerneas’ stats from being lowered by the opponents.
At Sync Level 2, you lose out on On a Roll 1, Impervious, and Adrenaline 1, and only have stat boosts and a lonely +3 power to pick up. Go for the Hybrid build.
Hybrid Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:
Defense +5
Sp. Atk +5
Sp. Def +10
Moonblast Power +3
Moonblast Move Gauge Refresh 3
Horn Leech Power +3
Horn Leech Master Healer 1
Horn Leech Master Healer 1
If you’re looking to use Moonblast for damage and Horn Leech for recovery, picking up the most important tiles from each will allow you to use what is best at the moment. Moonblast is powerful on its own, so it gains only +3 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 3. Horn Leech also gains the small +3 power, but what makes it great is two tiles of Master Healer 1. Those Master Healer 1 tiles will improve the amount of HP that is restored when Horn Leech lands a successful hit.
Sync Level 2:
– Sp. Atk +5
– Horn Leech Master Healer 1
– Adrenaline 1
+ 1 energy
+ Defense +5
+ Moonblast Power +3
+ Horn Leech Power +6
+ Horn Leech Move Gauge Refresh 3
Focusing on either move only leaves you with very little to gain when you’re still only at Sync Level 2. Going for a hybrid approach nets you the most benefit. From the sync level 3 version, you no longer have Adrenaline 1 and one copy of Master Healer 1. Instead, Moonblast gains a total of +6 power and Horn Leech +9 power from the grid. Energy is freed up to pick up Horn Leech’s Move Gauge Refresh 3.
