Olivia & Lycanroc have finally received their sync grid! As one of the top sync pairs before grids were introduced, this duo receives a grid that reinforces their role as a powerful Striker. Lycanroc will find his place right next to Garchomp as a sandstorm powerhouse, one for Rock-type and the other for Ground-type.
The best Sync Grid Builds for Olivia & Lycanroc are No Sand, No Problem, Speedy Sands, and Giant Gem Crush.
No Sand, No Problem (2/5) is a sync level 2 no-sand build that aims to strike down opponents quickly and decisively. Speedy Sands (3/5) focuses on passive skills to boost Lycanroc’s damage in a sandstorm. Giant Gem Crush (3/5) creates a sandstorm sync nuke that is sure to take a major chunk out of the target’s health.
Universal Upgrades
HP +10
Attack +10
Defense +5
Sp. Def +5
Speed +5
Stone Edge Power +2
Inertia
Inertia powers up Lycanroc’s sync move the more his Speed is raised. Each build takes a varying path to get to the tile, but raw damage is the goal of all three. As one build is meant for non-sand teams and the remaining two are, few tiles are similar. The recommended lucky skill for a sand team differs from a non-sand team which means there is no universal lucky skill.

Recommended Lucky Skill:
Critical Strike 2
Without turning the weather into a sandstorm, Lycanroc still performs exactly as he did before receiving his grid. Much of the grid is taken up by trying to reach each of the ability tiles, plus adding a little bit of power to Stone edge.
X Attack MP Refresh 2 gives Lycanroc a chance to reach max Attack. Even better, Stone Edge Move Gauge Refresh 3 has a 40% chance to restore one bar to the move gauge. With a cost of three bars, getting one back can mean a continual queue of attacks.
Stone Edge additionally gains Amped Up 2, which raises Lycanroc’s Speed by +1 each time the attack is a critical hit. With two uses of Hard as Diamonds! and Stone Edge’s natural increased chance of a critical hit, every Stone Edge is a critical hit. This means that Lycanroc can reach max Speed in three attacks, which also powers up Inertia. The pair has low defenses, so attacking hard and fast is priority.
Without sand, Critical Strike 2 is the best lucky skill as it increases all damage, both regular moves and the sync move, whenever Lycanroc lands a critical hit.

Recommended Lucky Skill:
Surging Sand 3
Sync Level 2:
– Surging Sand 3
+ Speed +5
+ X Attack MP Refresh 2
Being included in a sand team, Lycanroc makes a fantastic Striker. This build is full of passive effects that increase his damage output while in a sandstorm.
The first thing to pick up is Sand Shelter, which protects Lycanroc from damage caused by the sandstorm. Sand Blaster 5 will power up his sync move while the sandstorm is in effect. Surging Sand 3 is very similar, but powers up regular moves during a sandstorm. Finally, Sands of Time 3 quickly charges the move gauge recharge rate in a sandstorm, which helps the team be able to dish out more and more powerful attacks. Very simple. Lycanroc just needs to do what he does best.
The recommended lucky skill for the build is Surging Sand 3 which will combine with the tile version to effectively become Surging Sand 6.
At sync level 2, without Surging Sand 3, the best option to improve damage is to pick up X Attack MP Refresh 2 to reach max Attack.
Giant Gem Crush Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Unique Upgrades:
Rock Throw Power +10
Rock Throw Move Gauge Refresh 3
Shining Gem Continental Crush Power +50
Sand Blaster 5
Sand Shelter
Surging Sand 3
Recommended Lucky Skill:
Surging Sand 3
Sync Level 2:
Not recommended
This sand-team build gives up some of the damage output or assistence to refueling the move gauge to strike harder with Lycanroc’s sync move.
To protect Lycanroc from sandstorm damage, the build picks up Sand Shelter. While in the sandstorm, Surging Sand 3 will power up his moves. But Sand Blaster 5 will power up the sync move. Combine that with +50 power to Shining Gem Continental Crush as well as Inertia, and Lycanroc is sure to strike down enemies very quickly. The build picks up Rock Throw Move Gauge Refresh 3, but only to reach Inertia. Stone Edge is the only attack that should be used.
Surging Sand 3 is the recommended lucky skill even though it will not affect Lycanroc’s sync move because it will boost Stone Edge’s damage by 30% beyond what the grid version will.
