Pokémon Masters EX: Best Marnie & Morpeko Sync Grid Builds

Marnie & Morpeko are a unique sync pair that take some strategy and team-building to help them deal incredible damage. Focusing on Morpeko’s sync move and Dark-type Power Trip leads to the best results, but it is only possible with the sync grid fully unlocked. Pick up allies to raise Attack, Speed, and critical-hit rate quickly because while Morpeko can do it herself, it is too slow for any real good. Morpeko needs a lot of investment, but she is able to cover two different types for damage.

The best Marnie and Morpeko sync grid builds are Sync Level 2, Power Trip Focus, and Sync Nuke.

Universal Upgrades

Sp. Atk +10

Sp. Def +5

Speed +5

Thunder Shock Power +4

Power Trip Power +3

Critical Strike 2

Morpeko only has power upgrades to Thunder Shock and Power Trip across all three builds, plus the standard stat upgrades. But all builds will benefit from picking Critical Strike 2, which increases damage whenever the attack is a critical hit.

Sync Grid Builds

Sync Level 2 Build (Sync Level 2/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738

Total Energy Used: 59

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

Defense +5

Thunder Shock Power +4

Thunder Shock Move Gauge Refresh 4

Thunder Shock Staggering 2

Power Trip Power +1

Power Trip Move Gauge Refresh 2

Snack Time! MP Refresh 2

Without the passive skills from sync level 3, Morpeko loses what makes her powerful in her own right. But, at sync level 2, she can be paired nicely to support Karen & Houndoom who can benefit from Morpeko’s Thunder Shock.

Thunder Shock gains a total +8 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 4, meaning it will have a very small impact on the move gauge. Morpeko’s passive skill Hostile Environment 5 increases the chances for Thunder Shock to paralyze opponents. Picking up Staggering 2 causes Thunder Shock to have a chance of flinching opponents as well. Houndoom can take advantage of both of these.

Once opponents are paralyzed and flinching, Morpeko can switch to her much more powerful move, Power Trip. It gains +4 power total and a Move Gauge Refresh 2. Snack Time! gains a MP Refresh 2 that could allow her to increase her critical-hit rate to max as well.

Power Trip Focus Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750

Total Energy Used: 60

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

Defense +5

Power Trip Power +1

Power Trip Move Gauge Refresh 2

Snack Time! MP Refresh 2

Snack Time! Super Preperation 4

Hangry Wild Charge Power +25

Inertia

Power Trip is the powerhouse attack for Morpeko due to its ability to become much more powerful when Morpeko’s stats are raised. Power Trip’s power increases by +4 total and a Move Gauge Refresh 2 helps this two-bar cost move become even cheaper.

With more reliance on increasing her stats, Snack Time! MP Refresh 2 will allow her to potentially max her own critical-hit rate. With Super Preperation 4, there is a 50% chance that Morpeko will gain Super-effective Up for her next successful move. Time it right so Morpeko is in Hangry Mode for Power Trip to deal a super powerful Dark-type attack.

Hangry Wild Charge gains +25 power but Inertia is what greatly improves the sync move’s power. Inertia increases sync move power based on how many levels Morpeko’s Speed is raised. When it is raised to its max, +6, Hangry Wild Charge’s power is effectively doubled.

Sync Nuke Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738

Total Energy Used: 59

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

Power Trip Power +1

Snack Time! Super Preparation 4

Hangry Wild Charge Power +50

Inertia

Static Shock 3

When the team is built around reaching Morpeko’s max potential, her sync move is capable of great damage. You may want to pair her with Volkner & Luxray for the Electric Field for the damage boost.

Power Trip gains a total +4 power but Hangry Wild Charge gains +50 power. Using allies to quickly raise Morpeko’s Speed and Attack stats and critical-hit rate to max, Morpeko can use Thunder Shock to paralyze an opponent. Or rely on an ally while she uses Power Trip.
Static Shock 3 increases sync move damage when targeting a paralyzed opponent while Inertia increases the sync move damage the more Morpeko’s Speed is raised. Using Snack Time! just before the sync move to have Super Preparation 4 possibly activate, increasing the next move’s damage if it is super effective and the Electric-type sync move will deal a mighty blow to the opponent.
