Ghetsis & Kyurem are an Ice-type Striker that is Free-to-Play and their event will help you unlock its full potential. With Glaciate as its only real attacking move, you’ll need a speedy team or allies that can manipulate the move gauge regen for it’s four-bar cost. Capable of raising its own critical-hit rate and Sp. Atk to max, plus lowering opponent’s Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed, you will want allies like Iris & Hydreigon to do some of the work. Kyurem could do all of it by itself, it just doesn’t do any of them quickly.
The best Ghetsis and Kyurem sync grid builds are, Sync Level 2, Glaciate Synergy/Cold Snap, and Sync Nuke.
Universal Upgrades
HP +10
Defense +15
Sp. Atk +10
Sp. Def +5
Speed +5
Glaciate Power +6
Mwahaha! MP Refresh 3
Universal Recommended Lucky Skill:
Critical Strike 2
Kyurem’s Glaciate is where you should focus your energy and orbs on, so each build takes as many power tiles as it can. Mwahaha! MP Refresh 3 is used among all of the builds because it only takes three uses of the Trainer move for Kyurem’s critical-hit rate to reach max and have every attack be a critical hit. It also raises Kyurem’s Sp. Atk by up to three with each use depending on how low its HP is.
As a Striker capable of raising its own critical-hit rate, your lucky skill should be Critical Strike 2. It increases Glaciate or Dragon Breath’s damage of any critical-hit by an additional 20%.
Sync Grid Builds
Sync Level 2 Build
Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Unique Upgrades:
Sp. Atk +5
Sp. Def +10
Glaciate Power +6
Glaciate Accuracy +5
Glaciate Move Gauge Refresh 3
Noble Roar Move Gauge Refresh 3
Noble Roar Move Gauge Refresh 3
At sync level 2, both sync tiles and passive skills used in the fully unlocked builds remain unavailable to you, but it gives you the freedom to pick up all of Glaciate’s tiles. The attack gains a total of +12 power and +5 accuracy, raising it to 100. With a four-bar cost, Glaciate Move Gauge Refresh 3 will return one bar to the move gauge 40% of the time after a successful hit.
With the remaining energy, the build picks up both Noble Roar Move Gauge Refresh 3 tiles where each tile has a 40% chance of activating after a successful move. Since you’re likely to use up all Mwahaha!, if you need to keep tempo but your gauge isn’t full enough for Glaciate, Noble Roar is better than Dragon Breath because of these refresh tiles.
If you find yourself using Noble Roar a lot or have another sync pair to lower the opponent’s Attack, giving up +6 power to Glaciate to get Pecking Order instead may be a good option for you if you use Kyurem’s sync move.
Glaciate Synergy / Cold Snap Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 738/750
Total Energy Used: 59/60
Unique Upgrades:
Glaciate Power +3
Glaciate Accuracy +5
Glaciate Move Gauge Refresh 3
Absolute Zero Glaciate Power +50
Paralysis Synergy Variant:
Speed +5
Dragon Breath Power +4
Paralysis Synergy 3
Cold Snap Variant:
Glaciate Power +3
Glaciate Cold Snap 2
Both variants focus far more on Glaciate than on Kyurem’s sync move depending on what you’re more in need of: damage or status effect. Both pick up +5 accuracy for Glaciate and the move’s Move Gauge Refresh 3 tile. Absolute Zero Glaciate gains +50 power, though each build takes a different second tile.
While using Dragon Breath isn’t a good idea, if another sync pair can reliably inflict paralysis on an opponent, picking up Paralysis Synergy 3 for an extra 30% damage for Glaciate will take down opponents quicker. This variant picks up a total of +9 power for Glaciate.
If instead you want to stop an opponent from being able to attack, Glaciate Cold Snap 2 will have a 20% chance of leaving the target frozen after a successful attack. This variant picks up the maximum of +12 power for Glaciate.
Sync Nuke Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Unique Upgrades:
Sp. Atk +5
Speed +10
Dragon Breath Power +8
Absolute Zero Glaciate Power +100
Pecking Order
Absolute Zero Glaciate gains an additional +100 power and Pecking Order increases its damage based on how low the target’s Attack stat is to bring a powerful Ice-type wallop to any opponent.
To have Kyurem completely set up by its first sync move, you will need an ally to lower the opponent’s Attack since you’ll use Mwahaha! three times to reach max critical-hit rate. Noble Roar also only lowers Attack & Sp. Atk by -1 stage, so it’s inefficient compared to an ally who can lower it to -6 in three moves.
Kyurem will only start using Glaciate after the first sync move but using Noble Roar or Dragon Breath is an alternative to keep tempo and reach Kyurem’s next sync move as quickly as possible.
