Pokémon Masters EX: Best Erika & Comfey Sync Grid Builds

For the holidays, Erika brings in another defensive Pokémon that does well to shield allies behind her. Comfey sports a grid that concentrates all the tiles you’d want to pick up in tight bunches so little energy is wasted. She’s best used with other allies that don’t need to rely on her for consistent stat boosts, but she finds herself relatively self-sufficient to improve her defenses and keep her health up. Add in an ally that can improve her Sp. Atk and she may become a nuisance for the opponents.

The best Erika & Comfy Sync Grid Builds are Kiss of Restoration and Aim for the Little One.

Kiss of Restoration (2/5): Extra power to Draining Kiss means extra health regained every time Comfey deals damage to her opponents.

Aim for the Little One (3/5): For such a small Pokémon, Comfey sports a hefty bulk that other sync pairs can hide behind as she restores her own health and raises the stats of all allies.

Universal Upgrades

HP +10

Attack +10

Defense +10

Sp. Atk +5

Sp. Def +5

Speed +10

Draining Kiss Power +8

Draining Kiss Master Healer 1

Lei Up! MP Refresh 2

Universal Recommended Lucky Skill:

Vigilance

Since Comfey restores health based on the amount of damage Draining Kiss inflicts, increasing its power helps her stay on the battlefield. Draining Kiss gains +8 power and Master Healer 1, which increases the amount of HP that is restored with each successful attack. Since Erika’s Trainer move will restore HP, return lowered stats to normal, and raise the Defense of all allies, picking up Lei Up! MP Refresh 2 is very helpful since it normally only has one use.

To help protect Comfey from extra damage, Vigilance is the lucky skill universally recommended, since it will stop any critical hit from occurring and dealing extra damage.

Sync Grid Builds

Kiss of Restoration Build (Sync Level 2/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738

Total Energy Used: 59

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

HP +10

Sp. Def +20

Draining Kiss Power +12

Draining Kiss Move Gauge Refresh 3

At sync level 2, Comfey doesn’t have access to the best skills to increase her defense, so the build picks up an extra +10 HP and +20 Sp. Def

The build picks up a total of +20 power for Draining Kiss for the extra damage, but more importantly the extra healing. With the remaining energy, Draining Kiss picks up its Move Gauge Refresh 3 to have a 40% chance of restoring one bar to the move gauge after a successful attack.

Aim for the Little One Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738

Total Energy Used: 59

(Build Link)

Unique Upgrades:

Sp. Atk +5

Vine Whip Power +4

Lei Up! Shared Fortune 2

Tighten Up 4

The key skill to pick up is Tighten Up 4, which has a 50% chance of raising Comfey’s Sp. Def when she is hit by an attack. This means the longer the fight drags on, the better her defenses will become.

To help allies, Lei Up! Shared Fortune 2 will cause the Trainer move to raise a stat at random by +2 for all allies from this list: Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Speed accuracy, or evasiveness.  This can be a great mid-fight boost or a chance to skip one turn of setup for an allied pair.

Alternative:

– Attack +5

– Defense +5

– Draining Kiss Power +8

– Tighten Up 4

+ Def +10

+ Sp. Def +20

+ Impatient 1

If you have a sync pair on the team that already boosts Comfey’s Sp. Def, Tighten Up 4 isn’t needed, so the energy used reaching that one tile can be put to better use. Adding on +10 Def and +20 Sp. Def will definitely help keep Comfey from taking too much damage, especially since you’ll want Comfey to be taking hits.

Impatient 1 will potentially reduce the sync move countdown by one each time Comfey is hit by an attack. There is a 20% chance it will happen with each attack, but it could help your team have the first sync move and deal a devastating blow.
