Diantha & Gardevoir are the last team of the start screen to join the ranks as a heavy-hitting Fairy-type sync pair. They have the ability to raise their Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and critical-hit rate to max and can boost their Speed as well with a tile. With poor defenses, they’ll want an ally to take the damage for them. Moonblast costs four bars of energy instead of three due to Hit the Gas 5, so having speedy allies can help recharge the move gauge faster. If going all in on her sync move, Gardevoir will appreciate an ally like Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom who can reduce the sync move countdown with their Trainer move or skills on their grid.
The best Diantha and Gardevoir sync grid builds are Sync Level 2, Moonblast Endurance, and Sync Nuke.
Universal Upgrades
HP +10
Defense +5
Sp. Atk +15
Sp. Def +5
Speed +5
Moonblast Power +12
Universal Recommended Lucky Skill:
Critical Strike 2
Every build focuses on Moonblast so every build picks up all possible tiles to give the move +12 power. But they share no other tiles due to investing heavily in either Moonblast or Gardevoir’s sync move.
With Dire Hit +, there is little reason to consider any other lucky skill than Critical Strike 2. It increases the amount of damage taken on any move that is a critical hit. Since Gardevoir can max her critical-hit rate with two uses and have every attack crit, stacking it on top of the other bonuses to her damage will multiply them even further.
Sync Grid Builds
Sync Level 2 Build
Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:
Defense +5
Sp. Atk +5
Sp. Def +5
Speed +25
Moonblast Move Gauge Refresh 2
Time to Shine! MP Refresh 2
Master Thespian Moonblast Power +25
Quick Cure
At sync level 2, Gardevoir loses out on the massive boosts to her sync move damage because Devastation and four of the six sync move tiles are locked away. Instead, fully investing in Moonblast will take up most of your energy. Moonblast has one Move Gauge Refresh 2 tile for a 30% chance of returning one bar to the move gauge after a successful hit. Time to Shine! also earns an MP Refresh 2 for the chance to max out Sp. Atk and Sp. Def or for three bars on the move gauge if she has Mega evolved.
Master Thespian Moonblast does gain +25 power from the tile near to Moonblast and Quick Cure will eliminate the confused, flinching, or trapped conditions once per battle. The remaining energy can be saved or spent on stat tiles, such as grabbing +25 Speed to improve the move gauge recharge rate.
Moonblast Endurance Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:
Sp. Def +5
Speed +10
Moonblast Move Gauge Refresh 2
Moonblast Move Gauge Refresh 2
Time to Shine! MP Refresh 2
Time to Shine! Fleet Feet 1
Quick Cure
When facing down tough opponents or a several in a row, Gardevoir neglects powering up her sync move to invest energy in Moonblast instead. Hit the Gas 5 means that Moonblast costs four bars on the move gauge instead of three, but its power is increased by 50%. Picking up both Move Gauge Refresh 2 tiles means that one or both could activate after each successful attack.
Time to Shine! also picks up MP Refresh 2 for the chance of regaining one use of the move each time it is used. It could max Gardevoir’s Sp. Atk and Sp. Def stats, but if Gardevoir becomes Mega, it will charge the move gauge by three. It may also be best used to keep tempo in the battle if the move gauge is not filling up fast enough. To help with that, Time to Shine! gains Fleet Feet 1 which will raise Gardevoir’s Speed by +1 each time the move is used.
Finally, Quick Cure will eliminate confusion, flinching, or trapped conditions one during the battle. Especially with the heavy cost, losing a Moonblast attack because an opponent confused or flinched Gardevoir can be a big setback.
Sync Nuke Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Unique Upgrades:
Sp. Def +5
Dazzling Gleam Power +3
Master Thespian Moonblast Power +125
Devastation
Gardevoir’s grid comes stacked with six total sync tiles. This build grabs five of them giving Master Thespian Moonblast an impressive +125 power. Passive skill Propulsion 1 can reduce the sync move countdown any time Gardevoir’s attacks are successful. Getting to the sync move as quickly as possible is the goal.
Devastation increases sync move damage based on how much the opponent’s Sp. Atk stat has been lowered. Moonblast has a 30% chance to lower the target’s Sp. Atk by -1, but you may want to pair Gardevoir up with an ally like Iris & Hydregon who can quickly lower it for all opponents with Snarl.
