One of the early Special Strikers, Brendan & Sceptile finally gain a sync grid that vastly improves their damage potential. While you may have to decide if power or accuracy is more important, Sceptile wants nothing more than to raise his Speed and decimate opponents with both Leaf Storm and Leaf Blade of Sundering.
The best Brendan & Sceptile Sync Grid Builds are Sun’s Fury and An Unstoppable Storm. Greatly dependent on if you have Sun access.
Sun’s Fury (3/5): With the heat of the Sun, the unending Leaf Storm will take down opponents with swift ferocity.
An Unstoppable Storm (3/5): Leaf Storm and Leaf Blade of Sundering reach their peak power with damage scaling with Speed.
The builds are split into two entirely different sections that depend on if Brendan & Sceptile are paired with a Sun team or not.
Universal Recommended Lucky Skill:
Dauntless
Sceptile wants only one lucky skill: Dauntless. It stops Sceptile’s Sp. Atk from being lowered and nullifies Leaf Storm’s drawback of reducing his Speed by -2 with every successful attack.
Sync Grid Builds
Sun’s Fury Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Upgrades:
HP +10
Attack +5
Defense +10
Sp. Atk + 25
Sp. Def + 10
Speed +10
Leaf Storm Power +3
Leaf Storm Accuracy +10
Charging Sun 5
Healing Sun 1
Ramming Speed
Speeding Sun 3
Sync Level 2:
– Leaf Storm Accuracy +5
– Charging Sun 5
+ Attack +5
+ Leaf Storm Power +9
Sceptile joins the ranks of other Pokémon to benefit from a fierce sun with several tiles activating only when the weather is sunny.
Sceptile helps improve the move gauge recharge rate with Speeding Sun 3, which will help keep the attacks up with Leaf Storm. Each time one of his attacks is successful, Healing Sun 1 will restore a little bit of his health. Picking up both Leaf Storm Accuracy +5 tiles raises the move’s base chance to hit from 90 to 100.
While the weather is sunny, Charging Sun 5 will increase his move damage by 50%. Ramming Speed will always be active and will power up moves the more Sceptile’s Speed has been raised.
At sync level 2, Sceptile loses out on Charging Sun 5, cutting his offensive power significantly. To try to compensate, Leaf Storm gains an additional +9 power.
An Unstoppable Storm Build (Sync Level 3/5)
Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Universal Upgrades:
HP +10
Attack +20
Defense +10
Sp. Atk +5
Sp. Def +15
Speed +10
Bullet Seed Power +1
Leaf Storm Power +3
Inertia
Ramming Speed
Sceptile has several variations of builds if you are not running him on a Sun team that depend on his lucky skill and the support or lack of support from his allies. Each variation still takes two key tiles to improving his damage: Ramming Speed and Inertia. Both boost damage the higher Sceptile’s Speed for regular moves and his sync moves, respectively.
Without Dauntless
Unique Upgrades:
Sp. Def +5
Brainy Rush
Choose one:
Leaf Storm Accuracy +10
Amped Up 1
Sync Level 2:
Not recommended
If you haven’t been able to get Dauntless as Sceptile’s lucky skill, picking up Brainy Rush 6 will help keep Leaf Storm from making his Sp. Atk reach -6. After Sceptile uses his sync move, it will raise his Sp. Atk by +6. If you begin the battle using No Turning Back! to reach max Sp. Atk, Leaf Storm can be used three times before he returns to base Sp. Atk. While it will never be able to match Dauntless, it can help until you get lucky.
The remaining 10 energy can be spent where you need it most: Leaf Storm Accuracy +10 or Amped Up 1. If Sceptile’s allies cannot raise his Speed, Amped Up 1 will raise his Speed each time he lands a critical hit. Two uses of Dire Hit + and every attack will be a critical hit. If he has allies to raise his Speed, giving Leaf Storm +10 accuracy will make his base chance to hit an opponent from 90 to 100.
At sync level 2, Brainy Rush 6 is locked away, so this build is impossible until then.
Without allies to improve Speed
Unique Upgrades:
Leaf Storm Accuracy +5
Leaf Storm Move Gauge Refresh 3
Amped Up 1
Sync Level 2:
Not recommended
If Sceptile has Dauntless, but his allies do not help raise his Speed, he needs to be able to improve it himself since much of his damage depends on having a raised Speed stat. Amped Up 1 will raise his Speed by +1 each time one of his attacks is a critical hit. Since two uses of Dire Hit + will max his critical-hit rate and make every attack a critical hit, Sceptile will be able to max his Speed stat, but at a much slower rate.
With a lower Speed stat, the move gauge recharge rate is slower, so Leaf Storm Move Gauge Refresh 3 is picked up to help Sceptile be able to continually attack and raise his Speed. With the five remaining energy, Leaf Storm gains +5 accuracy which means his base chance to miss an attack will improve from one in ten to one in twenty.
At sync level 2, Amped Up 1 is locked away, making Sceptile unable to improve his own Speed.
Peak Damage
Unique Upgrades:
Defense +5
Leaf Storm Accuracy +10
Leaf Blade of Sundering Power +50
Sync Level 2:
– Leaf Storm Accuracy +5
– Leaf Blade of Sundering Power +50
+ Speed +7
+ Leaf Storm Power +6
With full support from his lucky skill and his allies to improve his Speed for him, Sceptile is able to focus fully on causing as much damage as possible to an opponent. He is able to pick up +10 to Leaf Storm’s accuracy meaning the attack will hit every time before opponents alter Sceptile’s accuracy or their own evasion. In addition to Inertia scaling his damage, Leaf Blade of Sundering gains +50 power, making Sceptile a force to deal with.
At sync level 2, Leaf Storm loses out on +5 accuracy and his sync move doesn’t gain +50 power. Instead, the energy is spent to improve Leaf Storm’s power and raise Sceptile’s Speed by +7.
