Pokémon Masters: Best Koga Sync Grid Build

Koga & Crobat’s moveset works together well to increase their damage and survivability. With their sync grid unlocked, it makes Crobat’s Poison-type moves drain away the opponent’s HP. Although Koga’s full grid is not available to players yet, two builds have variations that work for sync level 2.

The best sync grid build for Koga & Crobat would be to go for: Move Like a Shadow! MP Refresh and then focus towards either Toxic Fang or Poison Sneak.

Sync Grid Builds

Toxic Fangs (3/5) is a physical damage build using Poison Fang to badly poison opponents and capitalize on it with Toxic Power. Poison Sneak Attack (3/5) uses evasion and Venoshock to weaken opponents with guaranteed critical strikes. A Ninja’s Signature Move (3/5) focuses on their sync move, but can pack a punch with Venoshock.

Universal Upgrades

  • HP +10
  • Attack +5
  • Defense +5
  • Sp. Atk +5
  • Sp. Def +10
  • Speed +10
  • Move Like a Shadow! MP Refresh 3

Universal Lucky Skill Recommendations:

Critical Strike 2 or Vigilance

Getting the MP Refresh 3 for Move Like a Shadow! is the best way to help Crobat become more effective offensively and defensively with one refresh allowing both evasion and critical-hit rate to reach their limit of +6 and +3 respectively.

At +3, Crobat will always have a critical hit, which means Critical Strike 2 can mean additional damage. However, if using Crobat as an evasion tank and another sync pair will buff their defenses, Vigilance can prevent critical hits and let Crobat survive perhaps a turn or two longer.

Importantly, do not get the lucky skills Troublemaker or Gritty! They will not be effective for Crobat. Troublemaker affects non-damaging moves only and Gritty only activates when Crobat has a status condition.

Toxic Fangs Build (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Unique Upgrades:

  • Defense +5
  • Speed +5
  • Poison Fang Power +24
  • Poison Fang Move Gauge Refresh 3
  • Toxic Power 2
  • Toxic Power 3

2/5 Variation:

  • Toxic Power 3
  • Outmuscle 4
  • 3 energy

Lucky Skill:

Defense Crush 2

If you have a team that gains from opponents being poisoned, this build can help with a more powerful Poison Fang to badly poison targets.

Poison Fang gains +24 power and utilizes its Move Gauge Refresh 3 to best gain bars on the move gauge. Picking up both Toxic Power 2 and Toxic Power 3 improves Crobat’s damage against an opponent that is poisoned or badly poisoned.

Defense Crush 2 is an option as Crobat’s lucky skill because each attack will have a chance to lower the target’s Defense, beneficial for using Poison Fang or other physical attackers.

Poison Sneak Attack Build (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:

  • Venoshock Power +10
  • Venoshock Move Gauge Refresh 3
  • Venoshock Mind Games 9
  • Bob and Weave
  • Critical Strike 1

2/5 Variation:

  • Venoshock Mind Games 9
  • Bob and Weave
  • Critical Strike 1
  • Sp. Defense +5
  • Venoshock Power +2
  • X Speed MP Refresh 3
  • Toxic Power 2
  • 6 energy

This build gives another sync pair the sync move and focuses on using Venoshock to lower the target’s Sp. Defense.

If another sync pair focuses on inflicting poison on the opponents, Crobat can immediately start using Venoshock, which gains +10 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 3. Mind Games 9 guarantees that Venoshock lowers the Sp. Defense every time the attack hits an opponent.

With a refresh of Move Like a Shadow! Crobat achieves maximum evasiveness and critical-hit rate. Bob and Weave increases move damage with each elevated level of evasiveness and Critical Strike 1 will activate every time. Having the lucky skill Critical Strike 2 will stack with Crobat’s Critical Strike 1.

The 2/5 variation loses much of what makes this build effective, but it does what it can to be a Venoshock focused build.

A Ninja’s Signature Move Build (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Unique Upgrades:

  • Venoshock Power +8
  • Modern Ninja Sludge Bomb Power +50
  • Venoshock Mind Games 9
  • Blind Spot
  • Bob and Weave

2/5 Variation:

Not recommended

Using Koga & Crobat as the Sync Move pair can unleash some impressive damage against a poisoned enemy and still be effective with Venoshock.

Venoshock gains a modest +8 power, but more importantly it will lower an opponent’s Sp. Defense every time the attack hits with Mind Games 9. Bob and Weave is picked up to reach the sync tile and to power up moves with Crobat’s increased evasion

Modern Ninja Sludge Bomb gains +50 power but is also affected by Blind Spot, which increases the sync move damage with every positive level of evasion.

Since almost every useful tile is locked until reaching the third sync level, a 2/5 variation will not be effective. If using this pair with Karen & Houndoom, who can poison with Bite and lower Sp. Defense with Snarl, Mind Games 9 can be replaced with Critical Strike 1.

Games are a longtime passion of mine starting from childhood when my mother bought me my very own Gameboy Color. I’ve been gaming ever since. I’m a self-proclaimed jack of all trades, with what I consider a wide skill set ranging from programming to photography. As the saying goes, a master of none is oftentimes better than a master of one.
