Pokémon Masters: Best Hilda Sync Grid Build

Hilda & Tepig have been waiting for a sync grid to redeem their tendency to cause their own downfall with Flare Blitz’s recoil damage. Grabbing all three Standfast 5 tiles reduces recoil damage down to 1/32 of any damage dealt, a massive improvement.

The best sync grid build for Hilda & Tepig would be to go for Steadfast and Potion MP Refresh. For a more sync move-focused build, go for Inertia.

Sync Grid Builds

Each of the builds below require at least sync level 3. The first, Charge to Sync Move, takes a different approach to the pair, focusing on using Flame Charge to quickly reach their powerful sync move.

The second and third builds are very similar to each other, but will require slightly different teammates. Battle Villa Longevity intends on using its sync move and needs critical-hit and speed support while Heal & Deal grabs both Potion improvements and can deal damage when you have the move gauge to do so.

Charge to Sync Move Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +10
  • Attack +10
  • Defense +10
  • Sp. Def +25
  • Speed +5
  • Flame Charge Power +20
  • Battle Fanatic Heat Crash Power +100
  • Flame Charge Move Gauge Refresh 3
  • Headstrong
  • Inertia

If you want to reach Tepig’s sync move as quickly as possible, Flame Charge is the move you’d want to use. The lucky skill Critical Strike 2 will be best for this build, but the pair will need help to boost their critical-hit.

Flame Charge gains +20 power and a Move Gauge Refresh 3. With Tepig’s Speed being boosted with every attack, you’ll rarely have to wait to use the move again. After three uses of Flame Charge, Try and Stop Us! will max their strength. To best protect their Attack, Headstrong prevents it from being lowered.

Grabbing all four sync move tiles, Battle Fanatic Heat Crash adds an impressive +100 Power. Combined with Inertia powering up the sync move with improved Speed, plus Tepig’s easy access to boosted Attack, the sync pair can deal a devastating blow.

Battle Villa Longevity Build (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +30
  • Attack +10
  • Defense +10
  • Sp. Def +5
  • Speed +5
  • Flare Blitz Power +16
  • Flare Blitz Move Gauge Refresh 4
  • Potion MP Refresh 2
  • Inertia
  • Standfast 5
  • Standfast 5
  • Standfast 5

This build is meant for taking on Battle Villa fights as a primary damage dealer. The recommended lucky skill is Critical Strike 2 if you bring along a teammate capable of raising Tepig’s critical-hit.

Flare Blitz is the main attacking move and gains +16 Power and Move Gauge Refresh 4. Picking up all three Standfast 5 tiles reduces Flare Blitz’s recoil damage, allowing the sync pair to last far longer.

It’s best to have another teammate  increase Tepig’s Speed, rather than use Flame Charge. Inertia will increase damage of their sync move with each additional boost of Speed.

Finally, a Potion MP Refresh 2 will help Tepig recover HP. If you’re bringing another Potion-user, you might instead want to pick up a +25 Sync Power tile either Defense +5 or Sp. Defense +5.

Heal & Deal Build (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 750
Total Energy Used: 60
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +10
  • Attack +10
  • Defense +15
  • Sp. Def +5
  • Speed +5
  • Flare Blitz Power +16
  • Flare Blitz Move Gauge Refresh 4
  • Potion MP Refresh 2
  • Potion Master Healer 2
  • Standfast 5
  • Standfast 5
  • Standfast 5

This build is a good combination of dealing damage and survivability, making it a great secondary striker, tank, or healer. Having Power Flux 3 as a lucky skill  is a decent choice if you are not going to be using Tepig’s sync move, or build on their defenses with Vigilance or similar.

Flare Blitz gains +16 power and grabbing all Standfast 5 tiles reduces recoil damage massively. Since it consumes three bars, Flare Blitz’s Move Gauge Refresh 4 will help keep the recharge time down.

Once Tepig reaches low HP, Potion will heal just a little bit more with Master Healer 2 and you may be lucky with Potion’s MP Refresh 2 to get another use out of it.

Since Hilda & Tepig are outclassed in each way by another sync pair that focuses solely on damage, healing, or enduring hits, they do best being flexible and adapting to the situation.
