Pokémon Masters: Best Dawn Sync Grid Builds

Dawn & Turtwig has a Sync Grid that builds upon helping her allies and withstanding attacks, but their terrifying might can be unleashed with a powerful Sync Move in the right build.

The best Sync Grid build for Dawn & Turtwig would be to go for a Sync Nuke Build, or either a support or tank build.

Sync Nuke Build (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +30
  • Attack +20
  • Defense +15
  • Sp. Def +5
  • Speed +5
  • Seed Bomb Power +9
  • Seed Bomb Move Gauge Refresh 3
  • New Dawn Wood Hammer: Power +50
  • Fierce Entry 1
  • Pecking Order
  • Tough Cookie

This build focuses on making Turtwig’s Sync Move, New Dawn Wood Hammer, as powerful as possible. It uses both Sync Move tiles to boost the move to a base of 250 Power, but other Sync Grid ability tiles can scale it further by maxing the pair’s Attack and Defense.

Fierce Entry 1 raises Turtwig’s Attack when the pair enters a battle. Pecking Order boosts the Sync Move against opponents with lowered Attack and synergises with Turtwig’s Power Siphon 9 Passive Ability, which lowers the target’s Attack and raises Turtwig’s Attack when Turtwig is hit by an attack move.

Tough Cookie will power up all moves, including New Dawn Wood Hammer, the more Turtwig’s Defense has been raised, such as by using Dawn’s X Defense All move twice. To round out the build, a third Seed Bomb Power +3 pushes the power to +9 and Seed Bomb Move Gauge Refresh 3 helps the pair continue the attacks to count down the sync timer.

Co-op Ally (Sync Level 3/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Total Upgrades:

  1. HP +20
  2. Attack +10
  3. Defense +10
  4. Sp. Def +10
  5. Speed +5
  6. Razor Leaf Power +16
  7. Razor Leaf Move Gauge Refresh 3
  8. Eagle Eye 1
  9. Friendly Shield 1
  10. X Defense All MP Refresh 2
  11. Pump Up 2

This build is all about helping out your allies while you’re in co-op and still contributing damage.

X Defense All MP Refresh 2 will give you a moderate chance of being able to use the move more than twice, but Friendly Shield 1 will also raise Defense of your allies whenever a move targeting them is successful. This can help if an ally pair faints or switches out after you’ve depleted your X Defense Alls. Pump Up 2 will charge all allies’ Move Gauge by two after Turtwig’s Sync Move.

Despite being a Support, Turtwig has high Attack and this build boosts Razor Leaf by 16, gives it MP Refresh 2 and Eagle Eye 1 to deal damage quickly and help the fight. After using X Defenses, spam Razor Leaf til Sync and use Dawn’s Good As New! move when an ally needs help and you’ll be sure to be a valuable co-op partner.

Singleplayer Tank (Sync Level 2/5)

(build link)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +30
  • Attack +30
  • Defense +30
  • Sp. Def +30
  • Speed +5
  • Friendly Shield 1
  • X Defense All MP Refresh 2 (x2)

This is an excellent build if you only have Dawn & Turtwig at Sync Level 2. They are used as a tank in Singleplayer where the opponent AI will target whomever you choose first in the Squad Tactics. Since your other pairs will be doing the attacking, there is no need to invest in improving Razor Leaf or Seed Bomb.

This grid boosts HP, Defense, and Special Defense as much as possible and utilizes both X Defense All MP Refresh 2 tiles for the best chance of using it more than twice. If an opponent uses a move that targets all allies, Friendly Shield 1 will raise ally Sync Pairs’ Defense by one.

Consider not using both X Defense Alls in order to have one more chance to use an attacking move from an Ally Sync Pair.
