Pokémon Masters: Best Barry Sync Grid Builds

This Sync Pair focuses on manipulating opponents’ and their own Speed, but needs allies for support. Building on their Sync Move denies improving Piplup’s attacks, and the two need to hide behind a Support Sync Pair in order to remain in battle.

The best Sync Grid build for Barry & Piplup would be to go for Full Heal MP Refresh, and No Hesitation! MP Refresh.

Sync Grid Builds

Barry & Piplup’s Sync Grid builds on their powerful Sync Move, but many abilities are closed until Level 3. We’ve included Locked Possibilities if you’ve reached Sync Level 2, but recommend waiting until Level 3 to invest Sync Orbs into this pair.

Ultimate Sync sacrifices both move power and MP Refreshes in order to deliver the most powerful Late Fee Bubble Beam. VS Entei takes on the new Legendary Arena challenge as a speedy Sync Nuke tool meant to be paired with status-inflicting teammates.

Locked Possibilities Build (Sync Level 2/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +30
  • Defense +5
  • Sp. Atk +20
  • Sp. Def +10
  • Speed +5
  • Bubble Power +5
  • Bubble Beam Power +16
  • Bubble Beam Move Gauge Refresh 3
  • Full Heal MP Refresh 3
  • No Hesitation! MP Refresh 3
  • Ramming Speed
  • Haste

Barry & Piplup’s best abilities lie hidden but this build does the best it can to deliver a powerful Sync Move.

Ramming Speed powers up moves when Piplup’s Speed is raised, so this build grabs No Hesitation! MP Refresh 3 for the chance to max Speed and Haste to prevent it from being lowered. Full Heal MP Refresh 3 will help against opponents that inflict status moves and is especially useful if you use Barry & Piplup in Battle Villa.

This build builds on Bubble Beam with +16 Power and Move Gauge Refresh 3 but does not pick up Cakewalk. At Sync Level 2, there is no way to increase the very small chance to lower your opponent’s Speed.

Ultimate Sync Move Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +30
  • Defense +5
  • Sp. Atk +15
  • Sp. Def +5
  • Speed +5
  • Bubble Power +10
  • Bubble Beam Power +8
  • Late Fee Bubble Beam Power +50
  • Bubble Beam Move Gauge Refresh 3
  • On a Roll 4
  • Inertia
  • Cakewalk
  • Haste

This build charges ahead towards the most powerful Sync Move. Barry & Piplup need help to reach max Speed and Sp. Attack, and benefits from another Sync Pair lowering the opponent’s Speed.

Inertia makes Piplup’s Sync Move more powerful with elevated Speed. Haste will prevent Speed being lowered, but if you don’t foresee this being an issue, you can replace Haste with two tiles of Bubble Beam +4.

Cakewalk powers up Piplup’s Sync Move the more the opponent’s Speed is lowered. This build uses Bubble Beam’s On a Roll 4 to increase chances of Speed reduction. Bubble Beam Move Gauge Refresh 3 will help the pair more quickly reach their Sync Move.

Finally, this build grabs both Late Fee Bubble Beam tiles for +50 Power. With full control of the other two Sync Pairs, this build works best in Singleplayer.

Vs Entei Build (Sync Level 3/5)

Total Sync Orb Cost: 738
Total Energy Used: 59
Total Upgrades:

  • HP +40
  • Defense +5
  • Sp. Atk +20
  • Sp. Def +10
  • Speed +5
  • Bubble Power +10
  • Late Fee Bubble Beam Power +50
  • No Hesitation! MP Refresh 3
  • Full Heal MP Refresh 3
  • Haste
  • Inertia
  • Agile Entry 1

Pokémon Masters introduced the Legendary Arena with Entei as the first challenger just after this pair gained their Sync Grid. With their powerful Sync Move and Full Heal Trainer Move, they can prove highly effective for a Free-to-Play Sync Pair.

Barry & Piplup should be allied with other Sync Pairs able to use cheap attacking moves with high chances of flinching, sleeping, or freezing to deny Entei from attacking. Quickly count down the Move Gauge to Piplup’s Sync Move to unleash his power.

This build reaches for both Late Fee Bubble Beam +25 tiles as well as Inertia to boost the Sync Move’s power when Piplup’s Speed is raised. Haste prevents Piplup’s Speed from being lowered when Entei uses Bulldoze.

Agile Entry 1 is helpful to evade some attacks before Entei reaches its third HP bar and gains Piercing Gaze. No Hesitation! MP Refresh 3 gives Piplup a chance to max out Speed and Critical-Hit Rate. Refilling the Move Gauge quickly to continually use status-inducing moves is key. Barry’s Full Heal MP Refresh 3 will help with any Sync Pair burned by Entei’s attacks.
