Last Cloudia: Fishing Guide

Fishing is now available in Last Cloudia! This new “minigame” was added into the game with the update on December 13th, 2019. If you have progressed through the story far enough, this new minigame will be available to you, so why not give it a try?

You will find fishing in Last Cloudia to be very easy and relaxing, but the best part about it are the rewards you can get from participating in it. What rewards can you get you ask? Well, there is zell, enhancement materials, gacha tickets, and even an etherion! Learn how to fish in Last Cloudia now!

How to Start Fishing

To start fishing, head over to Ladour Village—one of the new areas from the recent update. Ladour Village is near where the end of the main story stops for now, so you will have to grind through the main story quests until you reach Ladour Village.

Once you reach Ladour Village, go to the Shop and you will see the ‘Fishing Rod’ item. Fortunately, the item only costs 10k zell, so buying it won’t break the bank. Buy the Fishing Rod, go back to the World Map, and you will see something on the dock north-east of Ladour Village as shown below:

Tap around there and you will see a new area, Fishing Spot, appear.

Go into the Fishing Spot area, and a cutscene will occur with Kyle and an old fisherman. Feel free to watch the whole thing through, or skip it. You will now be able to fish!

Fishing GUI

When you are in the Fishing Spot area, there will be 4 buttons that you can tap:

  1. Cast Out ‒ cast out your fishing line and attempt to catch any fish that bites on it
  2. Stop Fishing ‒ goes back to the World Map screen
  3. Archive ‒ the Fishing Encyclopedia screen appears
  4. Rules ‒ more information on fishing

How to Catch Fish

Catching fish is fairly easy. It all depends on your reaction time to the bite of the fish, so if you have good reaction time, it will be very easy for you. Also, please note that you are allowed to catch only up to 100 fish a day!

Tap the Cast Out button and wait until a fish bites on it. The fish may nibble on your line a few times before it bites, or it could just bite down on it without nibbling it on, so keep your focus on the screen! When the fish bites, the red bobber will go underwater and Kyle will have a light bulb on top of his head. This is when you want to tap the Reel In button and if you were fast enough, you have caught a fish—congratulations!

The Fish Encyclopedia

When you tap the Archive button, you will find yourself in the Fish Encyclopedia screen. Here you can see the different amounts of fish as well as the amount of that type of fish you caught. However, when you first start fishing, the types of fish are not revealed because you need to catch them first. At this port, there are 12 different types of fish, some rarer than others. Below are all the types of fish you can catch:

Rewards For Fishing

Each different fish has their own rewards and are granted once you catch enough of them. You can see how many fish of one species you need to catch on on the Fish Encyclopedia screen which is shown under the fish images. It seems that the rarer the fish, the less of them you need to catch for their reward. The rewards are as follows:

Fish SpeciesAmount NeededReward
No. 1 (Mezala)801 Metal Plate
No. 2 (Agiagi)701 Ancient Alchemy
No. 3 (Horn Fish)501 Mana Extract
No. 4 (Midradai)601 Stardust
No. 5 (Gudgeon)401 Congulated Saltwater
No. 6 (Gralis Gill)301 Blue Crystal Cluster
No. 7 (Ladour Salmon)251 Green Crystal Cluster
No. 8 (Lilborg)151 Large Gold Piece
No. 9 (Log Shark)201 First-Rate Power Potion
No. 10 (Princess Lunoah)102 Magic Tomes
No. 11 (Aldana Whale)102 Skill Books
No. 12 (Gran Mariner)901 SR Gacha Ticket

You can also see 2 buttons on the top right: Filled and Big Catch. By completing these 2 tasks, you will receive 2 great rewards. To complete Filled, you will have to discover all 12 species of fish which you will then receive a ‘At least 1 SR, 10 Spin Ticket’ and to complete Big Catch, you will have to catch the biggest size for all 12 species of fish which you will then receive ‘Etherion’.

Out of the 2 tasks, I have finished up Filled before Big Catch and I think this will be the same for many players. Catching a “big” fish that counts towards the Big Catch task seems to be random. You will know when the fish is a “big catch” when a crown appears next to the size of the fish you just caught.

One last reward from fishing is selling fish for zell. All you have to do is go to your inventory and sell them. However, the amount of zell you can sell your fish for depends on the amount of stars that fish has. The highest stars and zell value for each fish are as follows:

StarsFish SpeciesZell Value
1Mezala, Agiagi, Gran Mariner10
2Horn Fish, Midradai, Gudgeon30
3Gralis Gill, Ladour Salmon100
4Lilborg, Log Shark500
5Princess Lunoah, Aldana Whale1,000

Farming for 5-star fish

When you are fishing, you may encounter a 5-star fish. As of now, there are only 2 fish that are 5-star—Princess Lunoah and Aldana Whale. There are 2 indicators that you can see on the screen that alerts you that there is a 5-star fish in the ocean that you can catch. The indicators include splashes in the background and a big fish that is chasing smaller fish that passes through. A 5-star fish can appear randomly after you catch a fish, so be wary of any of the indicators after each catch. The most noticeable one is the big fish that passes through after you catch a fish. Below are some references of the indicators:

Instead of catching fish and hoping a 5-star one will appear, there is another method. For this method, all you have to do is go into the Fishing Spot area and if you do not see the big fish indicator as shown above, go back and re-enter the Fishing Spot area until you see it. After you catch the 5-star fish, leave and repeat.

This method works really well, but may take some time. For me, the lowest amount of re-entries it took was 3 and the highest amount was 47. The 5-star fish may be the 1st catch or even the 10th catch, so be patient. Doing this method is most likely the best way to catch these 5-star fish in attempt to get them as a “Big Catch”, so good luck!
