Gollux Replacement/Substitution Equips Guide – MapleStory Reboot

Gollux has been revamped in 2020 and the changes have made it a lot more difficult to obtain the Gollux Equips that are best in slot. If you weren’t able to get your hands on all the superior Gollux Equips before the change, this guide will help you get the stats you need in order to start clearing Hellux again.

The items you can use till you get your Superior stuff are: Chaos Ring, Synergy Ring, Reboot Vengeful Ring, Dominator Pendant, Ayame’s Treasure, and Dea Sidus Earrings.

All Gollux Changes

There have been a lot of adjustments when it comes to Gollux in 2020.

  • Gollux prequest removed
  • Gollux drop table changed (Hard and Hellux do not drop Rings or Pendants)
  • Gollux has increased HP (around 10x)
  • Gollux hit box is slightly bigger
  • Gollux entry level is 180
  • Gollux entry limit is now once a day (meaning you can’t carry someone and leave)
  • Gollux Coin and Penny will be changed and the old versions can be turned in for new ones
  • Gollux Coin Shop item list change (all accessories can now be purchased)
  • Gollux Coin Shop prices are adjusted

All of these changes were intended by Nexon to make it so that it is a lot more difficult to get the end game equips which honestly, in the past were very easy to get. Before the changes all you needed was your friend to carry you through Hellux and then leave before killing the Jewel and then carry other people afterwards till he did it himself. This was the way you could obtain Superior Belt, Earrings, and Pendants with random drop chance while buying the Gollux Rings from the shop.

Now the process is more straightforward where farming Hard/Hell Gollux will allow you to eventually purchase all the items you need. In the past there have been stories where it took several months waiting for a Gollux drop. Since all accessories can now be purchased, the RNG factor is taken away.

This is going to suck for newer players since it is now a lot harder to defeat Gollux and the only way to earn Gollux Coins to purchase accessories is through Hard and Hell mode.

Gollux Replacement/Equips Substitutions

Now that you most likely have to do Hard and Hell Gollux on your own, it is best to know what equips to use so that you can defeat it and earn those coins. Note that you can obtain a Solid Gollux set of Pendant, Belt, and Earrings from just drops of Normal Gollux. But you will be relying on random chance for each drop and you won’t be gaining Gollux Coins.

Let me say here that good mechanics and understanding of the boss will allow you to lower the requirements of range and damage necessary to kill the boss. Practice fighting Gollux every day and you’ll see your success rate go up for sure. If you want to read about the Gollux Mechanics check it out here, but nothing beats real experience.

Earrings – Dea Sidus Earrings that are dropped from Chaos/Normal/Easy Horntail are one of the few options available to you at this time. It is a decent option if you can use it to complete your Boss set. Another option is to use the Solid Gollux Earrings that can drop from Normal Gollux and above. If you can get a 3 set, that would be ideal.

Belt – Ayame’s Treasure is a good option and not hard to get. Do the [Hieizan Temple] The End of Princess No quest line to get it. Do all 3 parts of the quest and you’ll be able to get a Ring, Shoulder, and Belt that has a decent set effect.

Pendant – Chaos Horntail Necklace or Dominator Pendant will be your go to till you can fill it with a Superior Pendant. Chaos Horntail Necklace is easier to obtain and dropped from Chaos Horntail (Once you’re level 200 you should be able to clear). The Dominator Pendant is dropped from Arkarium (normal) and has better stats but slightly harder to obtain.

Don’t forget to unlock your other Pendant Slot as it is worth it for the extra stats you can gain. If you’re going for the Solid Gollux set you’ll want to have it as your primary or secondary.

Rings – Previously the strategy was to have Superior and Reinforced Rings but if you’re new, this will be tough. Instead you can take advantage of events and get the Chaos Ring, Master SS Ring, and Reboot Vengeful Ring. These rings have high base stats and should be obtained anyways since they can be used for other things besides stats.

For example, you use these rings till you can obtain the Gollux rings and then convert the rings to drop gear or meso obtained.

Synergy ring is one of the best if you can get it on 5 characters which is super easy if you’re playing during the 15th anniversary Pixel Event.

Gollux Required Ranges

Now your goal will be to get your Boss damage and Ignore Enemy Defense (IED) up for an easier time. For Hard mode Gollux you’ll want to aim for 8-10k main stat, 70% IED, Boss damage 150%+, and level 20+ main nodes. If you can get above this just worry about mechanics because you should be able to clear it.

Hell mode Gollux is doable with 12-15k main stat, 80%+ IED, 150%+ Boss damage, and level 40+ nodes. If you have at least this, you can do Hellux. Boss damage and nodes are super important and the more you have, the better the run will go.
