You may have noticed that your heroes have zodiac signs while browsing through your heroes or looking at their awakening screens. At first, these zodiac signs seem like their meaningless but they are related to an important item, catalysts. What exactly do zodiac signs have to do with catalysts?
The catalysts your heroes need depend on their zodiac signs. What do I mean by this? Well, heroes of the same zodiac sign generally require the same catalysts to awaken or skill up. If you have a lot of heroes in your team of the same zodiac sign, you’ll want to be grinding the same stage over and over.

Where to find catalysts?
Catalysts are no doubt one of the most important items in the game. They are used for Awakening and Skill Up, which are both crucial for building a strong team. Catalysts are rare drops, especially epic catalysts, so you’ll want to be farming the right stages to be efficient with your stamina. Often, you’ll have to spend a ton of stamina to guarantee an epic catalyst through the AP Shop, spending your Adventure Points gained by grinding stages in the area. Note that catalyst are only available in the Unrecorded History AP Shop.
It’s best to farm stages that have the most amount of mobs that can drop the desired catalyst. You may also want to consider the speed in which you finish the stages, so choose the stage that’s easiest for your team. Here are lists of the best stages to farm for catalysts in normal mode and world mode, taking the AP Shop into consideration:

Top heroes to farm catalyst for
The best heroes to farm catalysts for are Leo heroes, like Yuna and Iseria for PvE (player-versus-enemy) content. Leo heroes comprise the largest amount of the pool of heroes, and their catalysts are the most sought after. If you’re in a guild, the chances of requesting and actually receiving a Leo catalyst is really low. Other Leo heroes like Lorina and Martial Artist Ken, are really strong in Arena.
You won’t be farming catalysts too early into the game. Once you reach a plateau and you feel that you really need to then you can go farm. I’d recommend this order: find catalysts for your DPS hero first, then your tank, your secondary-DPS/support-DPS, and then your healer.
What’s the best way to farm catalysts?
Follow the charts above and grind the stages out. It’s best to be efficient and look for multiple catalysts that you can find in one area for your different heroes, try to find these overlaps. You’ll have to pick the best stage to grind for yourself and your own team.
Special Events
Usually there will be at least one event going on that you can take advantage in your search for catalysts. These events provide catalysts as rewards for you or give you stages to farm for catalysts. Keep on top of these events!
What are the catalyst drop rates?
There is no exact drop rate, but people have found that stages with the most mobs that drop the specific catalyst are the best. Like I mentioned before, you can always rely on the AP Shop instead of pure chance or RNG. In the past, there was no AP Shop for players to use, so consider yourself lucky!
