If you’ve just started Epic Seven it might be a little confusing when the quest requires you to go to an area that’s greyed out like the 5S or 8S stages. We will go over the adventure stages and all the goodies that are in them. For example, Heroic and Epic gear locations!
The way to unlock the greyed out adventures stages is to go into the stage with crossroads and walk towards the other doors. Make sure to explore everything as you might find some nice chests and drops. The free epic gear locations are down below.
How to unlock stages like 5S/8S
Once you complete the stage with multiple exits the first time, you can go back and clear the rest of stage by going through the other exits. Be careful with your morale while exploring the stage–if you hit -50 you will be severely weakened. Don’t forget to set up camp whenever you can to get back a little morale, it goes a long way. Check out team compositions that will you the most morale here. Morale is not as important so you don’t need to get a perfect team but it’s good to know who synergizes with who.
If you’re trying to unlock 5S and 8S you need to first go to 3S-3 and head north and talk to Hurado. He will open up 5S which you then need to complete to open up 8S.
Efficiently doing quests
Try to clear the stages efficiently. If the rewards require an Earth hero, put one on your team so that you don’t have to waste energy going back to complete it again. Energy is one of the most important things in this game so you want to use it the best possible way. When you first start out you want to use all your energy completing the story. Rush to complete 10-10 and do it while completing the Adventure Path quests. Adventure Path is super important as it gives you so many items and even free heroes. If you are running low on energy go to the Shop and spend your friendship points on energy and flags every day.
Once you’re done with the Adventure Path quests and story, you want to focus your energy on the side quests and farming. Getting your hero to 6* is tedious and might be confusing but if you want to know the right way to do it, check out the guide here. Getting to 6* is very important because it gives your hero a large boost in stats.
Once your heroes are max level, move on to the next step. The most important thing to make your hero stronger is to give them the right gear. The right gear is often more important than even the hero themselves. This is when you will find yourself farming the Hunt section. The hunts will drop gear and materials to help you get stronger.
Let’s look at some free Epic Gear that will help you before you start getting into Hunts.
Free Heroic and Epic Gear Locations
The free gear is located in the golden chests. Here is the list. Always check the map and look to see if there is a room on the edge. Usually you’ll find the gold chest there. Check the visual for help.

Abyss + Labyrinth Gear
It might be hard to find gear while not doing Hunts but do not worry, there is another way. That way is through the Abyss and Labyrinth. As you get further into the Abyss and Labyrinth, better gear will drop. So make sure to do them every day and get as far as you can.
Crafting Gear
Once you have found all the nice free gear, you can use that gear and others you’ve picked up to start doing Hunts. Depending on the difficulty of the Hunt you will get different drops. It is advised to craft teams for each Hunt (Wyvern, Golem, Banshee, Azimanak.) You will generally want to focus on Wyvern and Golem as they drop some of the most important gear. It is also advised that you don’t farm lower stages. Try not to start farming until you can complete the hardest stage (11th stage) as the lower stages are not the best use of stamina for the rewards you get.
