Grani and the Knights’ Treasure event is out and as a reward for clearing stage GT-3 you get the 5 ★ operator Grani for free. But, is she worth it? Is she good enough to replace your current Vanguards? We discuss it below!
Grani is a great operator that is a DP on kill Vanguard. This means she gains DP everytime she kills an enemy. Because it isn’t always possible to kill every enemy with 1 operator she belongs in a very special category. Overall, I would not say she’s better than other Vanguards.
Skills, Trait, Talent
What differentiates operators is their skill set and talents so, let’s see what Grani is working with.
Skill 1 – Def Up 𝞬, DEF +30%, Manual
Skill 2 – Press the Attack!, Range shortens; ATK & DEF +30%; Block +1; Attacks all blocked targets, Manual
Trait – Obtain 1 DP after this unit defeats an enemy; Refunds the original DP Cost when retreated
Talent – Mounted Police, All Vanguard Operators obtain 10% Physical Dodge when Grani is deployed.
By looking at her skills you can already see a glimpse of the way to play her. Grani is a solo lane type of operator and works best when a steady stream of enemies is coming down and she can attack them all. Drop a Medic near her and she can take care of a lane solo in some stages.
But, does this mean she’s the best at her job? Let’s see how she compares to her other DP on kill competition.
Grani vs Vigna vs Plume
When it comes to DP on kill Vanguards there are two other ones to talk about, Vigna and Plume.
Since in terms of stats the 3 ★ Plume can’t reach the amount of upgrades the 5 ★ Grani can, she can’t really compete. But if you need a good and cheap DP on kill Vanguard she does a good job.
Vigna is an operator who excels at attacking and attacking a lot. While Grani is an operator who seems to be more defense focused and about surviving more hits. Honestly, this is not good for a DP on kill operator.
I believe Vigna is much more useful when it comes to filling the role of DP on kill because of her high attack and skills that allow her to attack stronger and more often. Her skill 2 is Mallet Sound which increases her Attack Interval and ATK +120% at rank 4. Also, her Talent is Fierce Stabbing, which gives Vigna a 10% chance to increase the ATK of her attack by 50% each attack and has a 30% chance when using her skill. When it comes to killing enemies, this is your girl and does a much better job at it than Grani. It almost feels as if Grani has the wrong Trait and Class since she has defense skills.
When to use Grani
Grani is going to excel when it comes to killing problematic enemies, like Originum Slugs. The reason being is that she can be retreated and you will get all your DP back. So, drop her down to kill the Originum Slugs and because she has good defense she can survive the explosion, giving you the chance to kill another slug. Then, right before the slug explodes you can retreat her and you will gain your DP back and some for killing them while removing some really annoying enemies.
She will also be useful when there are a lot of weak mobs coming down the line. Since her Skill 2 allows her to block more enemies and attack all that are blocked, she will be great at clearing lower level mobs.
Another use that she can have is stalling enemy Bosses. Since Grani has good ATK and DEF she can keep an enemy boss busy while you setup your field. Also her Talent will give her and other Vanguards Physical Dodge so that will also be super useful when fighting Physical Damage Bosses.
Overall Thoughts
Grani, can be useful in certain situations but she isn’t an operator that will break the game if you level her up. She is not high on the priority list but since she’s a free operator you don’t have to worry much about getting her. Overall, I would not use her instead of Vigna when it comes to doing pure damage, but for stalling enemies, I would consider her.
